Brain Builders Club is an 8-week supportive group for children ages 8–12 with diagnosed learning disabilities, designed to help kids better understand how they learn, build confidence in their abilities, and develop skills to communicate and advocate for the support they need.

Through structured, strengths-based activities, children will explore their learning profiles, build coping and self-advocacy skills, and connect with other kids who may share similar experiences.

Kitchen Connections is a neurodiversity-affirming therapeutic group for teens ages 12–18, using cooking and hands-on activities to build practical skills, confidence, and connection.

Across 10 weeks, participants will have opportunities to strengthen executive functioning, communication, teamwork, flexibility, self-regulation, independence, self-advocacy, and meaningful peer relationships in a supportive environment.

Sometimes, learning about your child’s autism can open the door to reflecting on your own experiences.

For some parents, this might look like noticing familiar patterns like sensory sensitivities, social exhaustion, a need for routine, or a sense of feeling different growing up.

These moments of recognition can feel surprising, validating, emotional, or even a bit uncertain.

It’s not uncommon for parents to begin seeing themselves more clearly through the process of understanding their child.

From there, the path can look different for everyone. Some may explore a formal assessment. Others may continue learning, reflecting, or simply making sense of their experiences in a new way. There is no one path — and no timeline for understanding.

What matters is that self-reflection can be meaningful. It can support self-compassion, offer clarity, and help people better understand their own needs.

At Flourish, we approach this process with care, curiosity, and a neurodiversity-affirming lens, supporting both children and the adults who love and care for them.

At Flourish, acceptance is something we think about, talk about, and work towards every day in how we support, understand, and show up for autistic individuals and their families.

♾️April is Autism Acceptance Month and at Flourish, this is work that matters deeply to us.

It’s something that shapes how we think, how we practice, and how we show up for the individuals and families we support every day.

So as we move through this month, we’re starting with a simple question: what does autism acceptance actually mean?

Autism acceptance goes beyond awareness.
It’s not just about recognizing autism, it’s about changing how we understand, support, and create space for autistic individuals.

Acceptance means:
✨ Listening to autistic voices and lived experience
✨ Respecting different ways of communicating and engaging
✨ Creating environments that reduce barriers
✨ Supporting accommodations without hesitation
✨ Reducing the pressure to mask
✨ Recognizing autism as a valid and meaningful identity

Autism is not something to fix. It is a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world.

At Flourish, acceptance means continually shifting the lens - from trying to change the individual to creating environments where autistic people feel understood, supported, and valued. 💫

At Flourish, our groups are designed to help children and teens build skills, confidence, and connection — in a way that feels supportive, strengths-based, and actually meaningful.

From understanding how their brain works, to building executive functioning skills, to connecting with peers who get it — each group is thoughtfully designed to meet kids and teens where they’re at.

🧠 A new group is starting next week at Flourish

We are so excited to introduce Brain Builders Club (ages 8–12), a small, supportive group designed to help children better understand how they learn, build confidence, and feel empowered in their learning.

This 8-week group focuses on:
✨ Understanding how the brain works and how individuals learn differently
✨ Recognizing personal strengths while identifying areas of need
✨ Developing language to describe one’s unique learning profile with confidence
✨ Building tools to manage frustration and regulate emotions related to school
✨ Strengthening self-advocacy skills and learning how to request support
✨ Reducing shame through connection with peers who share similar experiences
✨ Building resilience and a growth mindset

Through guided discussion, interactive activities, and skill-building, children are supported in developing a strong sense of themselves as capable and competent learners.

Led by a clinician with lived experience, this group offers a space that is authentic, validating, and deeply supportive.

Who this group is for:
Children ages 8–12 with diagnosed learning disabilities who may:
• Feel frustrated, discouraged, or embarrassed about school
• Struggle with confidence in reading, writing, math, or attention
• Become overwhelmed or avoid challenging academic tasks
• Experience big emotions related to learning
• Benefit from structured support to build coping skills and self-understanding
• Want to feel more confident advocating for their needs

🚨 Starting March 23

Fee: $1,500 total (eligible for insurance coverage under psychological services)

That’s a wrap on 2025 💛

This year, we supported 1,868 clients, delivered 19,117 individual sessions and 2,000+ group sessions, welcomed 26 new team members (including 4 new doctors), endorsed 70 grad school applications, delivered 20+ neurodiversity-affirming presentations, built one new software platform, and took a meaningful step forward by pitching an autistic girls school.

Behind every number is a person, a family, a conversation, a breakthrough, a cup of hot chocolate, and a whole lot of care. We are endlessly grateful to our incredible Flourish team, your expertise, compassion, and commitment are what make this work possible, and to our wider community for trusting us, growing with us, and helping shape what Flourish continues to become.
