IPLAN — Your Bridge to a Career in Architecture in Ontario

Are you an internationally trained architect looking to build your career in Canada? IPLAN (Immigrant Professionals Leveraging Architectural Knowledge for New Opportunities) is an Ontario bridge training program delivered by JVS Toronto in partnership with Toronto Metropolitan University, designed specifically for internationally educated architecture professionals.

What the Program Includes

Delivered online over 14 weeks, IPLAN combines academic and workplace training, including:

3 accredited architectural courses at Toronto Metropolitan University: Building Codes & Regulations, Materials & Methods of Construction, and Building Information Modelling (Revit)
Sector-specific employment workshops covering Contract Administration, Sustainable Design, Wood Construction, and Employment Preparation
Licensing pathway information from the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA)
Mentoring, job search coaching, and employment support
Tuition: $750 | Financial assistance available through OBPAP for eligible applicants.

Who Can Apply

The program is open to Permanent Residents, Canadian Citizens, Convention Refugees, and Refugee Claimants/CUAET visa holders who have:

An undergraduate degree in architecture (or related field) from a university outside Canada
At least two years of work experience in architecture or a related field, obtained outside Canada
English language proficiency at CLB 7/8 (enhanced language training available if needed)
No or minimal Canadian work experience in architecture
2026 Key Dates

Application Deadline: Friday, April 10, 2026
Interviews: Week of April 13, 2026
Program Start: May 11, 2026
