A documentary will take another look at the Young Street Uprising. The protest was in response to the police killings of many Black men in and around Toronto. The protests began peacefully but became violent. In the word’s of UofT’s Rinaldo Walcott, Canada has made its citizens and the global community believe that racism is not an issue in our country in the way that is in other countries.

Dr. Rhonda McEwen will become the first Black woman president and vice chancellor of Victoria University on July 1st. Dr. McEwen has served as vice- president and principal on anti- racism and equity, was a director at the Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology. She was also instrumental to the University of Toronto’s Black Research Network.

The Parents of Black Children have documented anti- Blackness across various schools and are presenting their findings to the Ontario Human Rights Commission with the hopes that they will conduct a full investigation into Ontario’s education system.
