Imagine what you can do from here. This is where the next generation of original thinkers, adaptive leaders and caring citizens begins.

Mabin is an innovative and established school where children, teachers and parents work together every day to create something special and different. It is a home away from home, where children love to learn because they feel known, respected and capable. Children's interests and imaginations are at the centre of our academically enriched curriculum, which challenges each student appropriately and

The Mabin School community recently gathered to celebrate PRIDE together! A special addition to this year's festivities included a spectacular performance by our new friends from the Q***r Songbook Orchestra. The musical performance was followed by our annual PRIDE parade in the neighbourhood. Thank you to Barry Green for his help with photos that afternoon. Happy PRIDE to all!

Last week, we welcomed two sisters (JK and Grade 2) as our “Principals for the Day". They embraced their responsibilities enthusiastically and brought joy and energy to the entire school.

Highlights included: announcing that students were invited to come dressed as superheroes, princesses, or in PJs on Friday, welcoming students and parents at drop-off, making a morning announcement, enjoying a special lunch, convening a Leadership Team Meeting, speaking at our weekly full school Assembly and helping with many of the daily responsibilities that principals manage, often behind the scenes. They even made time to deliver treats to the staff throughout the building!

At the end of their busy day, one of the sisters reflected thoughtfully on what she had learned about leadership. She shared that problem-solving was one of her favourite parts of the role, especially during recess duty. She discovered that being a principal requires strong communication skills, persistence, a good memory, and sometimes the ability to make hard decisions. She also recognized that solving problems is not always easy and that understanding the root of a problem is important if you want to help kids move forward.

Both "Principals for the Day" approached their experience with curiosity, kindness, and great humour, and they certainly gained a deeper appreciation for the many moving parts involved in leading a school.

On the Thursday before the long weekend, The Mabin School community once again gathered to celebrate Mabin Day!

We enjoyed seeing our founder, Gerry Mabin, along with Ian Hawkins, former Mabin French and music teacher, at our full school assembly to kick off the festivities.

We sang! We paraded around the block! We partied! Many students participated in Mabin's Got Talent, and, brand new this year: a Grade 3/4 Car Derby and a Staff/Parent Basketball Game. There was something for everyone!
Thank you to our amazing Parents' Association and all of our volunteers for hosting this year's fabulous event. See you next year!

The Mabin School recently welcomed a highly experienced Peer Review Team as part of the rigorous CAIS (Canadian Accredited Independent Schools) accreditation process.

The team (from a variety of schools, including The Priory School, Matthews Hall, Royal St. George's College, Paul Penna Downtown Jewish Day School, Ashbury College and Lakeview Montessori) spent 4 days immersing themselves in the day-to-day operations of our school while also connecting with a variety of stakeholders, including alumni, students, staff, parents and Board members.

Thank you to all Mabin community members who helped prepare for this important visit that showcased the best of what our school has to offer. It was a real team effort!

We enjoyed hosting our guests and eagerly look forward to next steps in the accreditation process. After close to 2 years of preparations for this visit, it's CAIS closed......for now!

We especially love reconnecting with alumni who return "home" for the festivities. Please RSVP to [email protected] to let us know you're coming.

See you next week! 🦄

As Children’s Mental Health Week begins, we are reminded of the importance of emotional well-being in the lives of our students each and every day. It is a time to elevate conversations about mental health, emphasize the role of connection and understanding, and reinforce the idea that well-being is foundational to learning and growth.

At The Mabin School, this work has always been woven into the fabric of daily school life. We are intentional about creating spaces where students feel a genuine sense of belonging, where their voices are heard, and where they are supported through both challenges and successes. From classroom practices to broader school experiences, our goal is to ensure that every child knows they are part of a community that cares deeply about them.

This is work we do in collaboration with our families and our school staff. The consistency and care students experience between home and school make a meaningful difference, and we are thankful to be alongside our families in supporting not only children’s learning, but their overall health, happiness, and sense of self.

The Mabin School is looking forward to welcoming our CAIS (Canadian Accredited Independent Schools) Peer Review Team! As a CAIS Candidate School, the final stage in the accreditation process involves hosting 8 members of a Peer Review Team who will visit us over the course of 4 days at the beginning of May. We are grateful to the Peer Review Team and CAIS for providing us with this unique opportunity to showcase all that Mabin has to offer! After a fascinating year-long self-study exercise, we can't wait to meet our Peer Review Team in person soon!
