I really hope we’ll have clear skies this Wednesday! ☀️

The sky promises to delight us with two amazing astronomical events at once:
🌒 A partial solar eclipse — on Wednesday, August 12, around 1:00 PM in Toronto
🌠 The peak of the Perseids meteor shower — during the night from Wednesday to Thursday!

But safety comes first! 🕶️
I hope you still have your eclipse glasses from last time. If not, there are still a couple of days left to buy them or find online instructions to make a safe pinhole projector from materials you have at home.

And for the meteor shower, it’s best to watch away from city lights. ✨

I’ll share links to helpful resources and books in the comments soon.

🌠🇨🇦 **Canada, get ready to look up!**

One of the most spectacular meteor showers of the year is almost here. The **Perseid meteor shower** is expected to reach its peak overnight from **August 12 into August 13**, giving Canadians a great reason to spend some time under the stars. ✨

You won’t need a telescope—just find a dark spot away from bright city lights, give your eyes time to adjust, and enjoy the night sky. Whether you’re heading to a cottage, campground, lakeside, or simply stepping into your backyard, it could be a memorable summer night. 🌌

🇨🇦 **Will you stay up late to watch the Perseids?** Tell us where you’ll be watching from!

As promised, this summer I'm continuing to share ideas for places where you can spend meaningful and enjoyable time with your children 💫

If you haven't visited these exhibitions yet at the former Downsview Airport, I highly recommend planning an Art & History Day sometime this coming week.

🗓 Both exhibitions run until Sunday, August 16, and there are some very nice promotions available right now:
🎨 MONET: The Immersive Experience – Use promo code MONETLAST40 to get 40% OFF
🧱 Art of the Brick – Use promo code BYETOR25 to get 25% OFF
🎟️ Happiness Package – Visit both Art of the Brick and Monet: The Immersive Experience and save up to 25%.
💳 They also accept the Access2Card, which provides free admission for one support person accompanying a guest with a disability.

Neither exhibition is very large, so visiting both in one day is absolutely doable. I'd recommend starting with Art of the Brick, then relaxing in the comfortable chairs at the immersive Claude Monet exhibition.

🧱 ART of the BRICK truly is art. It's honestly hard to believe that all of these sculptures and artworks are built entirely from ordinary LEGO bricks! You'll see animal sculptures, creative installations, replicas of classical statues, famous masterpieces, and iconic architectural landmarks.
It's also a wonderful opportunity to review or dive deeper into world history, geography, art, and culture with your children 🗺

🖼️ MONET: The Immersive Experience has a different vibe. In the softly lit galleries, creative minds can discover how the Impressionists worked with light and color, stroll across the famous bridge over Monet's water lily pond, step into an artist's studio inspired by his era, and finally settle into a cozy chairs or bean bag while masterpieces by the founder of Impressionism come to life all around you.

And yes, visiting the AGO is also on our family's list for this month—I’ll be sure to share my thoughts afterward!

Lovely memories, and lovely to see how my little girl is turning into a lady 💕

This was one of the most popular girls' craft in my childhood back in the Soviet Union... But as you can imagine we didn't have paper plates or plastic wraps back then.... it sounds sooo gross now, but we just used broken glass we found on the streets 🫣
Thankfully, our kids can use safe and hygienic materials for their creativity 🌸✨

Boys are always boys... 😁

But you may have noticed that Facebook tends to show fun posts more often than educational.
Most of what I share is actually about children's education, health, development, learning at home, and practical parenting tips.

If you'd like to see more of that in your feed, a few small actions make a big difference:
👍 Like educational posts not just cool photos
💬 Leave a quick comment, even just emoji
➕ Follow my page and add it to your Favorites

It really helps more than you might think.
Thank you for supporting my little corner of the internet! 🐝 🫶
