University Settlement helps individuals and families to learn and grow by engaging them in social, cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities. Founded in 1910, University Settlement is committed to enhancing the quality of life of the people in the diverse communities we serve. Founded in 1921, The University Settlement Music & Arts School is one of North America's oldest community music schools. Our Faculty includes approximately 30 teachers, whose careful selection is based upon a combination of skills related to teaching and performance. All teachers are professionals with Bachelor's or Master's degrees in music or the equivalent. Currently we are offering individual lessons in: piano, guitar, voice, violin, viola, introductory cello, percussion, drum kit, flute, recorder, saxophone, and clarinet. Our group class offerings include: ballet, hip hop and jazz dance for children; ear-training; adult and children's choirs; ukulele; theory and harmony; and junior and adult chamber music. We function in the belief that arts education should be a right, not a privilege, and that lessons should be available to everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, perceived talent, disability or ability to pay.
