Valley Cat Coalition at UTSC

In conjunction with Community Cats Toronto, we will be hosting an in-person TNR certification workshop at UTSC on Saturday, April 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. Participating in this workshop is the first step to volunteering with community cats. Community Cats Toronto has generously extended us a discount of 20% off the regular price of the course for members of the UTSC community and, thanks to our fundraising efforts, members of Valley Cat Coalition can attend free of charge. When you purchase from us, you are helping our members obtain their TNR certification which will allow them to go out into the community and care for stray and feral cats. Regular nail trims are essential for a happy, healthy cat! Below are some tips to get started:

1.) Always use a nail trimmer specifically designed for cats. Never a human nail trimmer!

2.) Cut at a 45 degree angle. This keeps your cat comfortable when its nails are retracted.

3.) Avoid the pink area, also known as the quick. This is full of blood vessels and will be painful for your cat. Start by cutting just the very tips if your cat has dark nails and you are unable to see the quick.

4.) Most importantly, reward your cat afterward with their favourite treat!!!
