Fearless Filmmaking

Exciting news! 🎉🎬 "HARD FALLS", a short film by Alina Kulesh, is premiering on CBC TV this Thursday, February 22nd at 11:30 pm! Available after that on CBC Gem

When Alina and I met, it was clear she had something profound on her hands-- from the material to the cast & crew she had selected, magic was in the air. Entering late into the storytelling vortex with this team as an EP & Assistant director was the highlight of that balmy fall of 2021, and I am so excited to finally share Alina's vision with you.

In HARD FALLS, three best friends navigate the complexities of their lives, facing hardships at home as they part ways for the evening. Anchored in themes of immigration, family dynamics, girlhood and mental health. It’s an exploration of the nuanced loneliness we often feel as we grow up.

Congratulations to the entire team on this amazing accomplishment! 🎥✨

Always wanted to make the pictures that move? Need a little something extra that film school didn’t teach you?
We got cha.
This one’s for the ladies. Class is back in session. Who wants to learn how to take their ideas to screen?

Striving to leave the world a little nicer than the way we found it. The “why” has always been rooted in that philosophy. We may be teaching you how to make films, but our deep dream is that you use the medium of moving pictures to make waves: give a voice to the voiceless & build businesses & films that weave your “Why” into the fabric of your big beautiful film business.

2022 here we come. Sign up for the Waitlist- link in bio.

I asked myself if running the course again would be useful to this community and I looked down and saw this.

Not sure if you believe in signs, but regardless we’re running Fearless Film again early 2022. Waitlist is open now 💫

Last week we shot a project that felt effortless and straight forward and while on set I thought back to a time when a project of this budget, this scope, this pre production timeline would have left me in a panic.

The more you do, the more you grow and eventually what terrified you will become your new reality.

Do you want to produce your own work? You can. Where there’s a willingness to learn there’s a way.

A new cohort is coming soon. What do you want to learn about in 2022?

TIFF 2021: another year, another festival. It dawned on me that I’ve been attending the festival on that “industry” badge for 10 years. Holy crackers. Every year I realize how much more there is to learn, to grow, to dream of.

It’s important to do and see as many things as you can that light you up. That’s the fuel to the production fire. We’re here for the long game so don’t forget to feed your inspiration just as much as you feed your hustle.

JUNE CLASS REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! We're taking things to the next level- 4 classes to give you the low-down on everything you need to know about Producing 101 (and a lil' something extra they don't teach you in film school like overcoming limiting beliefs and believing and taking ACTION on those big vision dreams!) Limited capacity. Class starts June 11th :

Fearless Filmmaker is an interactive, 4 Day virtual course covering foundational production elements like schedules and budgeting.

In times where the world seems to flip upside down your projects could be the very thing that light you up, give you courage, make you laugh and provide that same comfort, education or missing piece that another human being is looking for. The power of moving images to connect us and reflect our humanity is really the coolest gift- isn't it?

If you've been wondering how to get your project off the ground it takes a bit of hard skills- budgeting, schedules, business plans etc BUT the thing no one tells you is that it also takes a bit of believing in yourself, your skill sets and digging deep into a little of your own driving philosophies and values. This is the secret sauce to it all.

I've been toying with running another Fearless Filmmaking workshop. I've been told it's overwhelming to pack in all this info into 2 days so maybe a 10 min lesson everyday for a week? 5 days of Fearless Filmmaking? It's free. If enough people want it I'll finally make it a course (which I've been procrastinating on really bc ) and that course will stay free, cause resources are hard to come by.
