Here's a promo video for the Watershed Festival - Reimagining Music Theatre which runs this week May 25-28 out of Kingston Ontario (but really online!). Back in episode 2, Alex spoke with Watershed Artistic Director Dean Burry about his own work in opera for/with children - as well as this new festival.
The Watershed Festival also features new work by Afarin Mansouri Tehrani, who will be in the guest in our next episodes.
Take advantage of the online nature of this festival - access passes are available and it starts tomorrow!

The latest episode of is out, and it's a bit different. Shorter, for starters, because this is Part 2 of a two-part episode featuring composer Juliet Palmer in conversation with host Alex Eddington: composer and theatre artist.
---
In the latter part of our conversation, Juliet Palmer and I zeroed in on a specific recent project with Toronto's highly collaborative The Element Choir, their leader Christine Duncan, and Continuum Contemporary Music.
We also discuss Urbanvessel (Juliet is the founder and Artistic Director), the surprising music that she is making at home for fun, and the birds of New Zealand who star in their own daily radio spot.

After a nearly two-hour conversation with Afarin Mansouri today, I am filled with things to think about!
- Creativity as something that transcends the body.
- Fostering very young musicians by *seeing* and acknowledging their creative process.
- The story inside of everything, and how opera can leave details out so participants can contribute to the story.
- Reclaiming one's musical heritage - in Afarin's case, Iranian - after immigrating to Canada.
- Connecting Iranian and western music-making through ICOT (with her colleague Saman Shahi-Artist Page ... who you may remember as the composer of our podcast theme music).
And so much more that I'm either going to have to edit down or split into two parts.
I'll be posting this interview in mid-May, shortly before Afarin's premiere of her first opera project in Farsi - at Watershed Festival - Reimagining Music Theatre (headed by former guest Dean Burry)
Meanwhile watch for episode 4 with guest Daniel Gardner this Friday... AND a special BONUS episode this week.
