A final round of applause for all our performers, and one more to you, our wonderful audience. The sharing of music is as important as the learning and playing, and an act that requires great passion and dedication from both performer and audience. We’ll leave it to Mr. Beethoven to explain: "I have never thought of writing for reputation and honor. What I have in my heart must come out; that is the reason why I compose." Thank you for celebrating Beethoven’s legacy and deep love for music with us, and please join us in congratulating the performers one last time. We look forward to seeing all our returning students and welcoming NEW students in the upcoming school year! Please contact us with any questions and inquiries.

Day 19: Please welcome back Chizu Okwuosa, who will now play an arrangement of the famous “Ode to Joy.” Chizu’s performance brings the spirit and hope of this masterpiece to life - excellent work, Chizu!

Special thanks to Ms. Eliza Wong who spearheaded this ambitious project and always puts her heart and soul into the Wizz Kidz community. (You can spot her accompanying the saxophone performances!) From extra prep lessons for the kids to rescheduling the date due to pandemic restrictions, Eliza did everything necessary to ensure the event ran smoothly. Thank you, Ms. Wong!

Day 18: We previously heard from Ian Luk on the saxophone. Here he is again, this time on the piano, performing an arrangement of Breitkopf Serie 18, No. 192, Woo 52. This is a thoughtful, balanced, and confident performance, Ian!

Special thanks to all the teachers and staff at Wizz Kidz for bringing the whole event together, it was not an easy endeavour especially during a pandemic! Without your hard work, patience, and belief in the students, it would not have been possible. A special shout-out to Ms. Cynthia, our behind-the-scenes wizard of all sorts, video and photo editor, program designer – an all-around awesome Wizz Kidz presence!

Day 17: Next we have Rhys Ho, performing a haunting version of Beethoven’s Grosse Fuge Op. 133. Rhys is a musical and sensitive young pianist - give this performance a listen and you’ll hear for yourself!
The Grosse Fuge, or in English, “Grand Fugue,” was one of Beethoven’s last compositions. It is a daring composition, perhaps not in terms of emotional drama or virtuosic fireworks, but for the complexity of the music. Is it major, or is it minor? Where is the music moving towards? Is there a story to follow, or meaning in the harmonies? You can certainly hear the mystery in Rhys’ performance.

Day 16: Anya Thadani is here to give a lively and energetic performance of an arrangement of the third movement of the Violin Concerto. Beethoven only ever wrote one concerto for the violin, but he did write five for the piano! (We’re a little biased here ;) Great job, Anya!

Day 15: Amy Tsaur is one of our long-time students at Wizz Kidz. She’s always been a hard worker and has represented Wizz Kidz at many different competitions and concerts, from Toronto to Vancouver, and even Carnegie Hall at New York.

Here she is, playing an arrangement of the first movement of Symphony No. 6, often called the “Pastoral.” This version preserves the expansive yet also lively spirit of the original and adds a little extra sparkle. Great job, Amy!

Day 14: Next, we have a sensitive and lyrical performance by Georgia! This is the perfect kind of music to put on, as you sip a cool drink and look out the window, and reminisce about the good times, or enjoy the rejuvenating views of nature. Music is all about transporting the audience to a different place, and you do just that, Georgia!

Day 13: Madeleine Alonso, also known as Maddie, is here to perform an arrangement of the first of Three Marches, Op. 45. This is a challenging piece, with lots of surprises and changes exploding out one after the other. Awesome job, Maddie!

Day 12: Here is Ian Luk performing on saxophone for Beethoven’s beautiful Sonata Op. 13, second movement. This melody is very famous; you may have heard the original piano version in a movie or two.

Ian and his sister, Hermione, are two excellent students at Wizz Kidz, performing well in special events and competitions, with lots of support from their family (mom Fiona performed with Hermione, as you may have seen in an earlier video). Great performance, Ian!

Day 11: Lucas Chan is next, giving a lively and detailed performance of the first movement from Symphony No. 3. This is an excellent performance Lucas, you should be very proud!

Do you remember the nickname of this Symphony? The “Heroic” symphony! Lucas and Ryan (who played the second movement) are classmates in the Gifted Year 2, and it’s great to have them working together to bring Symphony No. 3 to life!

Day 10: Here is Elsa Hu, another one of our youngest performers, age 7. Elsa has been busy this year, learning her group songs, solo pieces, competition pieces, and preparing for special events, like this one! She is performing an arrangement of the famous Moonlight Sonata, Op. 27, No. 2. Great job, Elsa!
