Thank you! ✨

Today I got to spend some “quiet” time at the studio. I say quiet because it’s rare I don’t have my daughter next to me as we homeschool.

🤩I arrived to a squeaky clean studio space
😍The board was updated with another inspiring quote ( forgot to take a photo of it!)
🥹Our light & shadow area is once again upgraded with new and exiting elements

I thought to myself, I really really love this place 🫶🏽
Shoutout to our BEST educators and Vanessa for improving our program each day!

✨If you’ve read our latest newsletter you’ll have learned about some of our updated services including the brand new OPEN STUDIO where you’ll be able to walk-in now without pre booking online ( although we highly recommend you to do so to secure your spot)! Thank you for your best business advice!

Also shoutout to and for always cheering me on ❤️

In a child’s eye ✨

Watching the children look at the world through their eyes is the most blessed and magical feeling I could ever ask for.

What’s so special about light and shadow that pulls their attention to look closely? What do they really see? What do they hear when they zoom in to the light? How does looking closely make them feel?

I’ll never know because the only way for THEM to find out is for me to step back and not interrupt their experience.

PA Day camp is back this Friday and filled with opportunities to wonder, play and create! I haven’t found a way to balance the book without charging too much but the quality must stand so we are keeping 10 children max for now. We can’t for you to discover our new studio features created by our best team of educators yet (pinch me!) This place is truly a small but mighty gem packed with opportunities to play and create. We can’t wait to see you all this Friday!

Homeschool Club is back tomorrow!

Join our small group, child-led creative environment where a community of children takes charge of their own learning. Sometimes we sit down and have conferences, sometimes they go straight to doing their own things ( because everyone’s current interests are different 😉). Sometimes they are inspired by peers to work on a new project together. Sometimes the grownups stay and collaborate with the children, others times they take the opportunity to spend some child-free time alone.

Our homeschool club is truly a unique experience like no other. It’s not a place where we stress about the children’s reading or math but a divine environment designed for the children to be themselves - the expert that they are.

Ages 4+ are welcome.

Gift wrapping paper play

If you still have USED gift wrapping papers around, don’t put them in the recycling bin just yet!

This is the time to extend your child’s sensory play, one that makes sense because it is the time of the year when we see these materials in real life.

While it may seem like a chore to us adults having to put all the used papers away, it is the prime time for our little one’s to conduct RESEARCH:

What can I do with paper?
What happens when I crumble it up?
What happens when I rip them?
How can I put them back together?
What if it gets wet?
What happens when there’s wind?

Rethinking learning 🤔

I arrived to Homeschool Club today with the plan to build a gingerbread house with the children. In my mind we would use our set to build a house structure decorated with brown paper so the children may enter the house for imaginative play & mark making.

“Oh! We can have multiple rooms!”
“This is the pluming so water can go in”
“I’m making curtains!”
“You cannot add this to the structure. It’s a large hand for building.”

🤯 the children have taken over the process. I’m no longer in charge but now acting as a humble collaborator, mainly to provide a helping hand and safety.

Within a 3-hour period, we have created the most unique gingerbread house anyone has ever seen. It’s not brown nor white. It didn’t even have walls or a roof but one with detailed plumbing, curtains and a bathroom fully installed with loose parts found at the studio.

Imagine if I had stuck with my gingerbread idea where the children had to follow my instructions, what would the process be like instead?

How might the conversations change?
What would the adults’ role be watching the children follow MY instructions?

It’s not always possible to provide our children an environment that allows them to create their authentic learning experiences ( ie. in traditional school settings) but our doors are always open for you whenever you’d like to join us.

Upcoming programs:
✨Homeschool Club this Fri, Dec 13th
✨PJ party this Fri, Dec 13th
✨Weekend drop-ins, Dec 14th
✨Holiday camp Dec 30-Jan 3
