Attended an amazing 'Masterclass on Developing a Skills-Based Curriculum' organised by Aditya Birla Education Academy, Mumbai. (ABEA)
The session was lead by Mr. Otto Schmidt, a famous Educational Consultant and a Gifted Programming Specialist from Toronto, Canada. He is the author of 'Accent on Essential Life Skills' and 'Accent on Educating the Highly Intelligent'.
Most education around the world is merely based on existing information, facts and knowledge. This results in students using existing skill sets to apply to knowledge, eventually not being able to optimize their aptitude and creativity. This means that highly personal competency thinking, creativity, and communication skills should be the focus of education. This will not only enhance the students’ current skills but also develop new ones.
The session was based on how educators can develop a skills-based curriculum for students, which will empower them and give rise to more independent, self-directed learners.
It was an honour to be a part of this Masterclass as it focussed on the objective of Skills-based Approach to Learning which is highly important for all to know in today's world.
