Hello friends,
We are excited to announce that once again we will continue to offer a Micro School for a small group of students from grades 1– 4 for the 2022/2023 academic year. We’ve had so much fun over the past two years teaching students and we’ve learned from the experience. Parents are exceptionally happy with the progress of their children over the past two years. We’ve included some photos that depict this general setting of happiness that we aim to create each day. This September we have planned for the best school year yet!
Our philosophy to education is a holistic one: there are many aspects of your child beyond academics and cognition. Socialization, emotional maturation, physical well-being, and positive mental-health all exist alongside academics. We believe in a holistic, active, multisensory learning approach that uses the whole body, movement, music, art, dance, drama, tactile activities, fun games, etc. to fully prepare and engage the students for learning. We believe that by nurturing the healthy development of the whole of your child, that their focus and enjoyment of learning is maximized.
We follow the Ontario curriculum and meet or exceed provincial standards, plus we add an enriched arts program including piano lessons. Yoga and meditation are part of our year-round, robust social-emotional-regulation program. We have 4 adults on staff. Our lead teacher is OCT qualified with 29 years teaching experience. Your child will receive above average one-on-one attention with personalized programming based on their strengths and challenges. Our teaching philosophy is anchored in loving, accepting staff who believe in every child’s potential to thrive at school.
For this upcoming September 2022, the school will run Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Before- and after-care may be offered. We have a very limited number of spots available given our commitment to keeping the student: teacher ratio low, and already have a number of families intending to register. If you are interested in having your child attend this unique alternative to public school, please contact me via the email address [email protected] or via text on 647-772-1365.
With parents as our partners, we share a commitment and determination to fulfill our vision of Vibrant, Happier, Healthier Children. A Positive, More Creative, Learning Environment.
Sincerely,
The NYA Team

The two Gs: Gratitude and Goals:
We start and end our day with gratitude using the “gratitude wall”. We encourage our kids to see many good things within themselves and around them. We also want our kids to be aware of what they want to improve, by setting group and individual goals. We post these goals on the “goal wall” each week, and celebrate/reinforce our kids often, using a reward system.

Research confirms what we believe: Physical movement is an essential part of children’s learning and development. We don’t expect young kids to sit perfectly still. And we don’t believe sitting still is necessarily the best way to learn!
Take a look at our mini-gym. Isn't it cute?
