🎉 Day 2 at TASME was an incredible success! If you missed it, make sure to join us next time! We started the day with an exciting highlight on collaboration opportunities with Sri Lankan universities, leading to full engagement and interest from the audience. This paved the way for research and faculty exchange outreach activities.

We hosted 6 parallel workshops, catering to every career stage. From mentorship for junior faculty to coaching sessions for leaders and discussions on AI in healthcare, there was something for everyone.

Participants then dove into scientific sessions, with ample opportunities for in-person networking at the coffee and snack stations ☕

We celebrated our award winners across 4 categories, including Dr. Siva Sivathayalan, PhD, who received the TASME Lifetime Achievement Award 🏆 The closing session saw participants and volunteers praising the conference's value, leadership, punctuality, and high-quality sessions. They were inspired by the successful role models and expressed a keen interest in organizing future events.

A huge thanks to everyone behind the scenes, the committee members, participants, and presenters who made this event possible 👏

Don't miss out on the next conference on July 5-6, 2025! It will be even bigger and better, and we can't wait to see you there.
UTSC proved to be an excellent host, with top-notch facilities and dining. Special thanks to Prof. Nirusha Thavarajah for agreeing to co-chair the upcoming TASME. Her dedication will help TASME thrive at UTSC for years to come.

Thank you to everyone who attended the TASME Conference 2024 🙏🏻 Here are the highlights from Day 1:

Day 1 kicked off with over 50 in-person attendees and more than a hundred joining online, making it a great success. Attendees engaged in dynamic workshops, networking sessions, and Q&A opportunities following insightful presentations.

We had impressive presentations across various fields, including medicine, environmental sustainability, and AI technologies. The intimate setting of small presentation rooms fostered authentic conversations, with a standout workshop led by medical students and resident doctors from TARMS. They shared inspiring stories, emphasized the importance of following one's passions, and discussed equity, diversity, and inclusion in Ontario medical schools.

Our chief guest, Sabesan Sithamparanathan, PhD, OBE joining via Zoom, presented a talk on “Passive IoT powered AI” and also provided exceptional insights during the pharmaceuticals workshop, joining a panel of experts who offered outstanding advice. The science sessions featured diverse presentations, from lung and cardiovascular health to diabetes and battery technologies.

The tech presentations highlighted advancements in AI, making for an exciting and informative day. Honoring Dr. Subramaniam Srikumaran was a memorable highlight for the panel and participants.

Breaks were filled with networking over healthy snacks, tea, and coffee, allowing participants to connect and exchange ideas. The interactive and celebrative reception in the newly built Harmony Hall capped off a day of learning, connection, and inspiration.
Stay tuned for Day 2 highlights as we continue to explore, innovate, and collaborate!
