My SECRET SINGING Desire

Heather's singing story... 3 things I've learned

Years ago I stopped singing.

I've always wanted to sing but my family and friends
told me I didn't sound good.

Since then I've been mouthing the words in church. I even faked singing happy birthday while others sang.

I called the number in a local flyer for 'Paul's Fabulous 3-step vocal method'.

That was 4 months ago.

Today I sing at church every Sunday and join in for happy birthday every chance I get.

Here's 3 things I learned:

ONE: Inner blocks can be removed.

My biggest fear was that maybe I didn't have it in me.

I realized I was ok with not having a singing voice, if that was the case.

But I was not ok with accepting an inner block. Coach Paul helped me to gently melt away my inner blocks until my voice flowed out of me.

TWO: Start with what already is working

Paul started by listening to my speaking voice.
He told me all the things he liked about it, which really gave me a boost.

He showed me how I could I use the best parts of my speaking voice that he liked
and just translate that to my singing

My singing started to feel and sound more and more like my speaking voice, which felt natural to me.

Removing physical tensions I was able to hear my real voice for the first time. I like how I sound.

THREE: Open my heart to connect

What I really wanted from singing was to be able to make someone feel good. This was my secret desire.

Connecting with my heart I was able to reach a little more, dream a little bigger. My voice came from a different place because it was no longer just about me.

I am looking forward to singing a Marvin Gaye song at our next family gathering, and one day even a duet with my husband.

Singing is for giving and making others feel good. I want to give that to my husband.
