🌱✨ Urban Farming Adventure with Camp Gedi! 🌟👩‍🌾

A throwback from our summer camp last year. What a beautiful experience we had at our ‘Farmers in the City’ workshop in partnership with Camp Gedi, right next to Toronto’s Humber River! 🌼🌳

Our young explorers traded their city shoes for garden boots and got their hands dirty as they planted a vibrant salad garden right in the heart of the urban landscape. 🥗🌿 Watching the children connect with nature was nothing short of magical! Farmer Sean from Deschool worked with the children, teaching them the magical experience of growing their own food right here in the city and showing them how to be responsible with the resources they use. From digging in the soil to planting seeds, they embraced the joy of nurturing life, learning valuable lessons about sustainability and the importance of local food sources.

Through Deschool’s outdoor programs, we’re fostering a love for nature and hands-on learning that stays with our kids long after the last plant is tucked into the ground. 🌍❤️

Still riding the wave of inspiration from the incredible 15th Canadian EdTech Summit! 🌟

Robert Martellacci said it best: “The smartest person in the room is the room.” This line captured the true spirit of the event—where collaboration and collective wisdom ruled. Being surrounded by visionaries and leaders from the Canadian and American education and EdTech space was nothing short of transformative.

Over three action-packed days, we engaged in meaningful discussions, shared ideas, and soaked up invaluable insights from school board and district leaders. And the highlight? Pitching alongside five other phenomenal EdTech startups from across Canada. The innovation, the drive, and the passion of everyone involved blew us away. Huge shoutout to Ariella Racco, Mallory Maynard, Liam Lytton, Dhiraj Hariramani, and Nancy Sun for being amazing!

We’re incredibly grateful to have shared our mission at Deschool—connecting students with real-world scientists to bridge the knowledge gap in emerging technologies. Feeling proud, inspired, and ready to keep pushing forward!

🌱 Microgreens Magic at Deschool! 🌱

Our little gardeners had a blast at our recent Growing, Harvesting, and Tasting Workshop! 🌿✨ The children explored the wonders of microgreens, tasting delicious varieties like broccoli, pea shoots, and red raddish. They learned how to cut these nutrient-packed greens and even whipped up a tasty snack to enjoy with friends. 🥦🌱

We were amazed at how adventurous the children were in trying all the microgreens and using their words to describe them. 🌟

Microgreens are bursting with nutrients and antioxidants, making them a fantastic way to stay healthy! 🥗💪

We’re now taking bookings for our Microgreens Programme for PA days, school breaks, and daycare centers. Don’t miss out on this fun and educational experience! 📅🌟

This is Phase 2 of our project at Runnymede PS! 🌟 After insightful workshops with our Indigenous educator Jennie Town, students eagerly joined Farmer Sean to bring their learning to life by planting a stunning rainbow garden in the Coelbeck yard. 🌈 We had seven planters, each representing a color of the rainbow, filled with a vibrant mix of flowers, herbs, and edibles—mostly native to Ontario. 🌼🌿🍅

Students even planted variations of the Three Sisters plants using different varieties of squash, beans, and corn. 🌽 It was absolutely inspiring to see the students dive in with such enthusiasm, becoming farmers for a day. Their excitement and dedication were palpable as they transformed the space into a vibrant, educational oasis. 🌱

We’re incredibly proud to witness such hands-on engagement and passion in this transformative project!

What a fantastic way to celebrate this Canada Day 🇨🇦!It was a pleasure meeting Ron Cougler and receiving a copy of his book “The Ultimate Entrepreneur’s Handbook”.

Deschool is thrilled to announce that its journey has been featured in Ron’s new book.

We at were pleasantly surprised when Ron first asked to share the story of building Deschool with him, and even more so when he decided to include it in his ‘30 Success Stories of Entrepreneurs’. The process has been delightful; the back-and-forth conversations were truly enjoyable. More than anything, it has been an absolute honor.

We believe that this is just the beginning, and the world is its oyster, as they say. But being part of a book is certainly an encouragement that keeps the team moving forward.
