Can you spot this salamander? πŸ‚πŸ¦ŽπŸŒΏ

As the seasons change, High Park’s wildlife is getting ready for cooler days. One tiny forest resident you might spot is the red-backed salamander, which loves damp forest habitats.

While they don’t live in water, these amphibians benefit from healthy forests with clean, intact leaf litter, logs, and water sources.

As you explore High Park this fall, make sure to look out below, because you never know who might be hiding beneath your feet!

🀝 Thrilled to announce our very first β€˜Friends of’ Round Table with leaders from Toronto Botanical Garden, High Park Nature Centre 🌿, and Friends of Allan Gardens!

We gathered today in the beautiful Allan Gardens Children’s Teaching Garden (thanks gardencluboftoronto!) to share ideas, compare notes, and talk about how we can work together to better serve you and the planet! 🌻🐝🌳

Three organizations. Three incredible green spaces. One shared goal: growing a greener, more socially connected Toronto. This is just the beginning. We’re excited to see what we can grow together! ✨

It’s πŸŒ³πŸ¦‰πŸ‚

Forests are vital lands that support many people, plants, and wildlife. They provide places for us to learn, explore, connect with nature, and take a break in a busy city.

For wildlife, forests are much more than just beautiful green spaces. They provide food, shelter, and places to rest and raise young. They can also be important stopover areas for animals migrating through our region.

Protecting forests means protecting the many species that depend on them, and ensuring these special places remain healthy and accessible for generations to come. This National Forest Week, let’s appreciate the forests around us and do our part to care for them!

Our staff had a blast visiting conservationhaltonπŸ¦…

Our team took a look around Crawford lake, strolling along the recently renovated boardwalk which provided some amazing angles of the wetland habitat.

Following a visit to the lake, the team got to see reconstructed longhouses, and learn more about the indigenous stewards of the area.

To finish the day, our staff got an opportunity to meet some seriously cool animals including the resident raptors at the Mountsberg raptors centre.
