❤️ Valentine’s Day isn’t only about who loves you.

It’s about whether you love who you are.

In Strum and The Wild Turkeys, Strum doesn’t start out confident.
He doesn’t fit in.
His plume isn’t perfect.
He wonders if he belongs.

And the real turning point in the story?

It isn’t when others accept him.
It’s when he begins to see his own worth.

Self-love is not loud.
It’s not vanity.
It’s not perfection.

It’s the quiet decision to stop apologizing for who you are.

It’s choosing to show up — plume and all.

That’s the kind of love we hope every child feels.
That’s the kind of love we model in our classrooms and homes.
May we celebrate the courage to be ourselves —
and encourage others to love themselves, too.

Because when we model self-acceptance,

Belonging means being part of a group where you feel safe and happy. But to really feel like you belong, you have to be yourself—even if you’re not perfect. If you try to hide who you are, it’s harder to feel like you really fit in. The more you like yourself, just the way you are, the easier it is to find people who love you for being you.

Strum and The Wild Turkeys teaches kids that you don’t need to be perfect to belong—being yourself is enough. It’s a heartwarming reminder that the right group of friends or “flock” will love you for your authentic self, flaws and all.
