This week, our Grade 5 students had a wonderful opportunity to take part in a Beyond the Classroom curriculum enrichment trip to Melfort—an experience filled with creativity, connection, and celebration.

The day began at the Northern Lights Gallery, where students enjoyed a hands-on art experience guided by talented local artists Sandra Dancy, Carla Tyke, and Terry O’Flanagan. With their support, each student created a one-of-a-kind tile that will be brought together to form a beautiful collaborative mural—a lasting reminder of their time together.

After a morning of creativity, the group headed to the Melfort Spray Park for some well-earned fun and laughter. They shared lunch together, enjoying the chance to relax and celebrate all they’ve accomplished this year.

It was a meaningful way to wrap up their time at TES as they begin preparing for their transition to the next chapter. We are so proud of our Grade 5s and the growth, friendships, and memories they’ve made along the way!

TES Family Picnic Reminder ☀️

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at our annual Family Picnic on June 18 from 12:00–12:40!

A quick reminder to please pick up your child from their classroom before heading out to enjoy the picnic together.

We’re hoping for beautiful weather so we can all spend time outside in the school yard. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, don’t worry—we’ll have space set up inside with the gym, movement room, and hallways available.

Be sure to stop by the photo booth at the front entrance to snap a fun picture with your family—it’s a great way to capture the day!

Also, take a moment to check out the lost and found before it gets packed up—you might spot something that belongs to your child.

We look forward to this opportunity to come together as a school community. Thanks for joining us!

What an incredible and meaningful experience for both our students and staff today! 💛

We had the true privilege of welcoming Lawrence Roy, an amazing hoop dancer, whose performance left everyone inspired.

The visit also began in a very respectful and meaningful way. Mrs. Norum presented Lawrence with a gift of to***co, and we all learned about the significance of this offering. It set a powerful tone and helped deepen our understanding of Indigenous protocols and traditions.

Right from the start, Lawrence shared the importance of circles in his culture and explained the meaning behind the animals he creates through his dancing. He also spoke about the significance of his regalia, sharing that it was carefully handmade by his wife, which added an even deeper level of meaning and connection to his performance. This helped bring real-life connections to what our students have been learning in the classroom and gave them a deeper understanding of those outcomes. 🌀🐻🦅

Lawrence’s performance was truly something special. Through his creative hoop work and powerful dancing, he brought stories to life right in front of us. Each movement and shape had meaning, and you could really feel the passion he has for sharing his culture. ✨

One of the highlights was watching a group of our students take part in a mini lesson with Lawrence. We were so impressed with how quickly they caught on! In a short amount of time, they were able to create a variety of animals and objects. It was such a great hands-on experience and really helped them connect to the learning in a meaningful way. 👏

We are so grateful for the time, energy, and heart that Lawrence shared with us. Experiences like this help build understanding, appreciation, and lasting memories for our whole school community. 💛

What a beautiful day to begin our Indigenous Peoples’ Week. 🌿

Students and staff had the opportunity to visit our “Walking Together” Book Walk, and it couldn’t have been a better day to be outside learning together. As we moved along the path, stopping to read each part of the story, there was such a calm and thoughtful feeling in the air.

The story itself, along with its stunning illustrations, really gave everyone something to think about. At each stop, students took time to reflect, share ideas, and talk about what the story meant to them. The questions sparked some meaningful conversations and helped deepen understanding in a way that felt natural and connected.

It was such a simple but powerful experience — being outdoors, reading together, and taking time to listen and learn from one another.

A wonderful start to an important week. ❤️

As we look ahead to the upcoming week, we are grateful for the opportunity to recognize and honour Indigenous Peoples Week as a school. 🧡

Throughout the week, students will take part in a variety of meaningful experiences—from a Walking Together Book Walk 📚, to learning from a guest hoop dancer, to student-led presentations, and a shared art and museum experience 🎨.

Each activity has been thoughtfully planned to support learning, reflection, and growth at every grade level.

This work connects directly to our goals and outcomes across all grades—helping students develop respect for diversity, thoughtful thinking, and a deeper awareness of the world around them.

On Friday, June 19, students and staff are encouraged to wear orange shirts 🧡 as a way to honour and recognize the importance of truth and reconciliation.

We kindly ask that parents and guardians ensure permission forms are returned for the museum visit on June 19 so that all students are able to take part in this experience.

We are proud of our students as they engage in these opportunities throughout the week. 🌿
