Did you know that almost 1 in 10 Canadian youth aged 15-24 report having a learning disability? (Statistics Canada, 2024)

October is Learning Disabilities Awareness Month, a time to increase understanding, challenge stigma, and recognize strengths, and remove barriers for people with learning disabilities and ADHD.

With the right supports, we can help create more inclusive schools, workplaces, and communities across Ontario where people with LDs and ADHD can thrive.

What an amazing Orange Shirt day we had yesterday. Learning from our staff and students who have family members who were residential school survivors or never came home. Lessons through videos and lessons about Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. Our students wrote how they support each other in school. Our Indigenous Support Advisor, Ms. Armstrong and Stella, a grade 6 student, told their families stories, history of residential school and read a story to our kindergarten classes about the meaning around Orange shirt day. We took a school wide photo, it was beautiful, and can be shared on our school TV.
