Helpful Back to School Tips:
Preparing for back to school involves resetting sleep schedules two weeks early, organizing supplies and clothes the night before, practicing morning routines, and talking openly about feelings.
These steps reduce stress and help children feel confident.
Adjusting Routines and Sleep - Move bedtimes and wake times earlier in small 15-minute steps starting two weeks before school.
Do a practice run of the morning routine so kids remember the rhythm of getting dressed, eating, and heading out.
Limit late-night screen time to help bodies wind down for early mornings.
Shop early with your child to let them pick out a few favorite items and build excitement. Lay out clothes, pack backpacks, and prep lunchboxes the night before to save precious morning time.
Supporting Emotional Readiness Talk about what to expect on the first day to calm nerves.
Listen to worries without interrupting and validate their feelings. Visit the school grounds or classroom ahead of time if possible to make the environment feel familiar.
