A message from Wellkin

Wellkin delivers child and youth mental health programs and services in Oxford and Elgin counties (for children and youth up to the age of 18 and their families). There are no costs and no health card required to access Wellkin. Our services include assessment, treatment, and education delivered by professional therapists; and our aim is to engage and support whole families in delivering care to their young family members. Each child or youth’s treatment plan is customized to address their individual needs and be responsive to their unique life and family circumstances.

Due to the current pandemic, Wellkin remains open but we shifted our efforts and capacity in response to the needs of our community by providing greater tele-support and tele-counselling. We are also mobilizing virtual support and counselling through PHIPA compliant secure and private platforms.

To access our telephone or video counselling services, contact us Monday through Friday (between 8:30 and 4:30 Mon-Thurs and 8:30 and 4:00 Fri) at 1-877-539-0463 and a member of our team will guide you through the intake process and schedule an appointment for you with a therapist. As always, after agency hours, in collaboration with the London Crisis & Intake Team (C-IT), the Crisis Services is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling: 519-539-0463 or 1-877-539-0463.

A message from Total Hearing Centre

HELLO!!

Congratulations on having a child who will be starting school in the fall!

This can be such an overwhelming time for parents, trying to make sure everything is perfect for their child’s first school experience.

Here at Total hearing Centre, We encourage every child entering school to receive a hearing examination before beginning the school year.

This will give your child a base test in case of hearing loss through the years.

Often times, if there are issues in the learning environment, Doctors will request that you have your child’s hearing tested as a first step to rule out hearing loss.

Our hearing testing is non-invasive and parents are welcome to stay with the child during the test.

"Speech-Language Pathologists provide a full range of services to meet the communication needs of a student through an educational service delivery model, advancing communication skills within the school environment and fostering the transfer of these skills to other settings. The Speech-Language Pathology staff offer screening, assessment and intervention services for students. Collaborations with families, educators and other team members are instrumental. A full range of evidence informed interventions are employed. The team also provides professional development and public education opportunities for school and system staff, families and community partners."

It is time to get ready for Kindergarten! Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic, we are not able to gather and meet with you in person in schools as we usually do. In the meantime, please find the attached helpful online resources for your use. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s growth and development, please do not hesitate to connect with us at the health unit.
