McKellar Park Central Public School

On Monday we were fortunate to be invited along with Ogden Public School to attend a Go GirlsCAN session at the Lakehead University Fieldhouse/Hangar in partnership with the LU Achievement Program. Our students engaged in interactive movement games and activities led by Leah Ferguson, assistant wrestling coach at LU, as part of a skill building initiative. It was wonderful to see our students open up and interact with the whole group as they immersed themselves in this amazing opportunity. Thank you to our staff along with Leah and the Ogden staff for making the day so memorable.

Reminder - the Family BBQ is today from 12-1:30. Most classes will then head over to the Franklin St. Splash Pad at 1:30 and return for the end of the day. We look forward to seeing everyone. There will be hot dogs, fruit and veggie trays, juice and water as well as freezies, face painting, games and activities. There will also be an information table for our Parent Council with draw prizes including hanging baskets, sports equipment and outside activities.

Our Class of 2026 had their graduation ceremony yesterday. We welcomed family and friends along with our school
Community into our gym to celebrate this year’s graduating class. Thank you to all that attended and to all of the efforts of staff to organize such a memorable time for our graduates. We are so proud of you and look forward to seeing all of the amazing things you will do in the future. Congratulations Thunderhawk Class of 2026!!! 🎉 🎊 🎈

POSTPONED - Unfortunately due to the risk of thunderstorms today we will be postponing our play day and family bbq until tomorrow. The bbq will be scheduled from 12-1:30. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to seeing families tomorrow.

We know summer is still on the way but just in case you were wondering, the first day of school for next year is Thursday, September 3rd.

More Kingfisher fun with our Primary students!

Last week our Primary students spent the day at Kingfisher! They had a beautiful day of learning in the forests, bogs and everything in between. A huge thank you to the staff for hosting our students in such a wonderful learning environment. A Kingfisher day is second to none!

REMINDER: Tomorrow, June 12th, is a P.A. day for our elementary schools.

Yesterday our Junior 3-Pitch team competed at Chapples Park. They competed hard and played as a team. Thank you to our coaches for all of their guidance. Also, thank you to our grade 8 umpires for their efforts. We are so proud of all of our Thunderhawks.

Mrs. Taylor’s grade 1/2 class visited the Thunder Bay Museum today. They enjoyed exploring the various exhibits.
