Congratulations to Tigers athlete Kayley Cianfagnia on an incredible achievement!

Kayley has been invited to train with the Team Ontario Volleyball Regional Program this summer and will be competing at the Ontario Summer Games in Waterloo beginning July 30

This is a well-deserved opportunity that reflects Kayley's hard work & commitment to the sport. We are proud to see another Tiger representing our school on the provincial stage!

Tonight at our Regular Board Meeting, Trustees Saarinen and Chambers presented Matthew Gourley, Abigayle Nelson, Avery Kydd, Celeste Marcon, Freya Mannisto, and Brody Horihan with Trustee Recognition Awards! These students recently represented our region and Lakehead Public Schools at the Canada-Wide Science Fair in Edmonton.

Reaching the national science fair is an extraordinary accomplishment in itself. It requires curiosity, creativity, perseverance and countless hours of research, experimentation and problem-solving. These students demonstrated all of those qualities and more as they competed alongside some of the brightest young scientific minds from across the country.

Their success at the national level was truly remarkable. Every competitor at this year’s Canada-Wide Science Fair received a $1,000 scholarship to the University of Alberta, meaning all six of our students returned home with scholarship awards recognizing their hard work and academic achievement.

On top of that, Celeste received the Canadian Nuclear Society Nuclear Science and Technology Award. This prestigious award, presented to only two students at the entire fair, recognizes outstanding projects related to atomic and nuclear science and its applications in fields such as energy production, medical imaging, radiation technology, astrophysics, geology and materials science. In addition to the honour itself, the award included a $750 prize and serves as a testament to the exceptional quality and innovation of Celeste’s work.

Avery and Abigayle also took home a Junior Division Bronze Medal. Only thirty bronze medals were awarded to junior-level students from across Canada. Along with their medals, Avery and Abigayle each received a $1,000 scholarship to Western University and an additional $1,500 scholarship to the University of Alberta. Their achievement reflects not only scientific excellence, but also the dedication, teamwork and determination that led them to this national stage. Congratulations everyone!

Westgate CVI’s 2026 Graduation will take place this Thursday at 7PM at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium 🎓 Doors will open for the public @ 6:15PM

‼️ All graduates should arrive no later than 6pm ‼️

🚘 Families and guests are encouraged to plan ahead for parking, as there is construction in the main parking lot

🎟️ ❌ No tickets. Seating is first come!
