Confederation College would like to acknowledge the significant contributions of Elder Sarah Yellowhead.

Sarah, from Nibinamik First Nation (Summer Beaver), was a valued member of the Confederation College community who generously shared her teachings, kindness, and spirit with students, staff, and faculty for more than nine years. Throughout her life, she was deeply committed to supporting others through compassion, cultural teachings, and genuine care.

Through ceremony, cultural teachings, mentorship, and holistic supports, she helped create welcoming spaces where students felt supported, connected, and empowered. Her time in Apiwin, where she shared traditional teachings, beading, moccasin making, stories, laughter, and encouragement, touched countless lives and strengthened our college community.

As a Knowledge Keeper and Elder, Sarah played an important role in supporting Indigenous student success, advancing reconciliation, and helping others deepen their understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. In recognition of her extraordinary contributions, Confederation College was proud to award Elder Sarah Yellowhead an Honorary Credential in Onajigawin Indigenous Services, recognizing her outstanding commitment to student success, mentorship, leadership, and community well-being.

Her wisdom, compassion, and grandmother's love will be forever remembered.

She will be deeply missed.

We hold her family, community, friends, and all those impacted by her life and teachings in our thoughts.
