During the month of June, our school proudly participated in the “Voices of the Land – Anishinaabemowin” challenge! 🌿 Students created posters featuring their favourite Ojibwe words, building on our year-long focus of a weekly word of the week. The creativity, effort, and pride in their work were inspiring to see!

Throughout the month, classes also spent time reading and learning about the rich cultures, traditions, and important contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada. These meaningful learning experiences helped deepen understanding and foster respect for Indigenous perspectives and languages.

We were also fortunate to welcome the Indigenous Friendship Centre into our Grade 5/6 classroom for hands-on learning. Students created medicine pouches and traditional beaded bracelets. Medicine pouches carry meaningful items such as medicines, to***co, cedar, sage, sweetgrass, or personal objects and represent protection, connection, and healing. The bracelets represent strength, connection, and cultural pride. Both activities required patience and our students certainly showed that!

Miigwech to all of our students, staff, and community partners for their commitment to this important learning! ❤️🖤💛🤍

Our end-of-year annual family picnic was a huge success! ☀️ The weather cooperated perfectly, making it a beautiful day for families to come together, relax, and celebrate.

A special highlight for the kids was the visit from two of our wonderful community helpers: Firefighters and Paramedics who both brought their trucks along for everyone to explore. 🚒🚑 It was such an exciting and fun experience for our students!

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the day so special—we truly appreciate your support and community spirit! 🌳❤️

That’s a wrap on another incredible year of Girls At Bat! 🎉⚾️

Congratulations to all of our athletes for their participation and dedication throughout the program at our school.

This year, these girls stepped outside their comfort zones 💪✨, built confidence in sport 🏃‍♀️⚾️, formed meaningful connections 🤝💕, and supported one another every step of the way 🙌🌟.

It has been so inspiring to watch them grow both on and off the field 🌱🏟️💫.

A special thank you to the Jays Care Foundation 💙🐦 for providing our athletes with this amazing program, along with the supplies, resources, and opportunities that empower girls to get involved in sport ⚾️🎒📣.

And a big thank you to Mrs. Berardi and Mrs. Mitsopoulos for their incredible coaching, guidance, and support throughout the season 👏⚾️❤️
