🎬 Docs North 7 – A Week of Creativity and Storytelling

Docs North 7 was all about learning, creating, and sharing stories. Participants explored how to make documentaries and worked together to tell powerful stories around the theme of Adaptation.

A big thank you to our supporters — Ontario Arts Council - Conseil des arts de l'Ontario and the Government of Ontario, Friends of the Finnish Labour Temple, and VIBE Arts. Your support made this workshop possible and gave space for new voices to grow and connect.

During the workshop, emerging and independent film, television, and digital media producers from Northern Ontario learn about the art, craft, and fundamentals of filmmaking from leading experts.

Participants and mentors benefit from the sharing of skills and knowledge. The diverse groups we bring together gain practical knowledge and share ideas regarding filmmaking! (*pssst- Docs North | Docs Nord north 7 will be coming in 2025*)

Docs North | Docs Nord 6 is happening September 10th-14th at Definitely Superior Art Gallery! This 5-day hands on workshop will teach you the how-to's of filmmaking plus, work in a group and make your own film!

Flash Frame Film and Video Network is excited to be bringing Docs North back to this fall!

Industry experts will lead our participants through a series of mentor sessions where they will learn all of the fundamental elements that go into making a film. They will then have the opportunity to spend the last two days of the workshop working with mentors and other participants to create a short film of their very own!

Our theme for this project is “isolation.” In this context, we are referring to the isolating nature of the Northern Indigenous communities surrounding us and how isolated we are in Thunder Bay.
