Last week Mrs.Wilkins played Hoop & Pole for her gym class. Landon had fun playing, and exhibited good aim in throwing his ‘spear’ throw the hoop. Hoop & Pole is a traditional Indigenous game used to develop agility and target skills for hunting. In Ojibwe it is called Dakobijigan-Minawaa Zhiimaagan. Thunder Bay Catholic Schools

Today, Mrs. Laatu and our Grade 5/6 students walked together in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. They walked to honour Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and learn about the truths and lasting impacts of residential schools. Through walking, listening, learning, and reflecting, our students are taking an important step toward building a future grounded in respect, understanding, and reconciliation.

Yesterday, our school came together to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities.
Our Ojibwe Language students helped us recognize the day in a special way by creating Every Child Matters buttons for every student in our school. These buttons are a reminder that every child deserves to be safe, loved, respected, and cared for.
As a school community, we also came together for a school-wide walk to honour the day and show our commitment to remembering, learning, and walking together toward reconciliation.

💙 **Terry Fox Walk** 💙

What a wonderful morning walking in honour of Terry Fox and his incredible legacy! Our students showed so much enthusiasm and school spirit as we came together to support Terry’s dream of finding a cure for cancer.

A special thank you to all of the parents who joined us for the walk! We truly appreciate you taking the time to walk alongside our students and help make this a meaningful experience. 💙

Way to go, Hornets! 🐝 Thunder Bay Catholic Schools mrs.ps_crew
