🥱 Sleepless in Thunder Bay 🥱
Yesterday, brought our community together for the launch of Sleepless in Thunder Bay - raising awareness and support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Our Student Trustee and United Way Thunder Bay Co-op student, Via, was there for the launch and is encouraging others to take on the challenge!
When our community comes together, we can break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future for everyone. Sleepless in Thunder Bay turns compassion into action, creating lasting impact in our local community!

Sleep in Your Car - Saturday, March 28
There is no registration fee, and participants are encouraged to help raise funds toward the $30,000 community goal.

Each day at school helps students learn, build friendships, and grow in the values that guide our Catholic community.
When students are present, they have the opportunity to:

• build relationships with teachers and friends
• practice virtues like responsibility, perseverance, kindness, and gratitude
As we approach March Break and the final stretch of the school year, it’s a great time to recharge and return ready to learn. Every day at school helps students stay connected, continue growing, and reach their potential.

Idéllo 🇫🇷
Last week, we were so excited to visit Pope John Paul II School Community, where Mme Mullins’ and M. Labine’s classes joined forces to participate in Idéllo - specifically L’art du débat, to strengthen their oral communication and critical thinking skills!
Idéllo is a French-language digital educational platform created by Groupe Média TFO (Ontario). Through L’art du débat, students learn how to:
• Build clear, structured arguments
• Support their ideas with evidence
• Respectfully disagree
• Respond to counter arguments
• Speak confidently in formal settings
Students may have noticed a few new faces during the visit, representatives from the Ontario Ministry of Education also joined us to see the learning in action!
The Art of Debate is designed to build confidence in interactive and spontaneous oral communication while strengthening critical thinking skills.
It was wonderful to see students engaged, collaborating, and developing skills that will serve them well both inside and outside the classroom! 💚

students marked Pink Shirt Day with youth leader, Admire Kargbo, from the Regional Multicultural Youth Council.
Together, they read “I Am Ruby Bridges” and reflected on Ruby’s courage as the first Black child to integrate an all-white elementary school in 1960.
Ruby’s story sparked powerful conversations about allyship, inclusion, and standing up against discrimination.

The Junior Hockey team stopped by Mme Duce’s class at this week!
Captain Max Wright (77), Caden Adams (7), and Eron Mitchell (17) hit the gym with students for some games, and let’s just say… after being chased around like that, you probably didn’t need dryland training 🤣
Hey GM McCallum… we spotted someone VERY familiar out there having the time of his life! 👀
Through “Walleye Wednesdays,” the team visits local schools to promote fun, healthy lifestyles, and inclusivity.

What an incredible celebration of diversity and student voice at St. Patrick High School's BSUA (Black Student Union + Alliance) Assembly, yesterday!
BSUA led the way with a powerful opening and dance. This incredible assembly featured vibrant performances, meaningful reflections from student leaders, information regarding Black History Month, a skit AND an inspiring keynote address from alumna, Lola Awosika!
Lola’s message was powerful - diversity is beautiful, necessary, and something we must be intentional about learning, protecting, and celebrating. With division still present in parts of our world, groups like BSUA remind us that Alliance means everyone. Inclusion begins with open minds, thoughtful learning, and a willingness to truly understand one another.
Standing ovation to Mrs. Olesko and this incredible group of students for their hard work in making this assembly such a success!
