Alumni Spotlight: Carolyn Weiss (Dental Assisting ’94, Dental Hygiene ’06)

We were proud to welcome alumna Carolyn Weiss back to campus on April 14, 2026, where she connected with our Year 3 Dental Hygiene students in a meaningful and hands-on way.

Carolyn’s journey is a great example of how Confederation College graduates are making a real impact in our communities. After completing both Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene, she identified a need for more accessible oral health care across Thunder Bay and surrounding areas. In 2017, she launched Carolyn Weiss Dental Hygiene Clinic & Mobile Svc, bringing care directly to those who need it most.

What makes her work especially inspiring is the way she meets patients where they are. Through her mobile clinic, a converted ambulance, Carolyn provides services in long term care homes, private residences, and assisted living settings, helping remove barriers to care for many individuals.

During her visit, students had the chance to tour her mobile unit and hear firsthand about her career path, business journey, and the realities of delivering care outside of a traditional clinic. She was joined by her colleague Janet Baillie for an engaging presentation and Q&A session that sparked great conversation and curiosity among the group.

We are always proud to see our alumni giving back in ways that inspire the next generation. Thank you, Carolyn, for sharing your time, your experience, and your passion with our students! 💙
