🎃 Calling all actors, scarers, performers, and Halloween lovers! 🎃

The Thunder Bay Museum in partnership with Science North - Northwest is putting out one FINAL casting call for volunteer performers for this year’s Haunted Halls, our annual immersive Halloween experience taking place throughout October. We are looking for people interested in:
👻 Acting roles
🕯️ Scaring roles
🧛 Character performance
🗣️ Speaking and non-speaking parts

No professional experience is required — just enthusiasm, creativity, and a willingness to help bring Haunted Halls to life.

Interested participants will be asked to submit a short video audition. Opportunities are available for performers of all experience levels.

On Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, our staff, volunteers, and committee members wear orange to honour the Survivors of the residential school system, remember those who never came home, and recognize the enduring impacts of residential schools on Indigenous children, families, and communities.

As an organization committed to working alongside Indigenous children, youth, and families across Turtle Island, we are reminded that every child matters.

Earlier this week, our team came together for an all-staff learning session that provided space to listen, reflect, and learn through a guided sharing circle. Together, we explored the importance of truth-telling, the value of listening to Indigenous voices and lived experiences, and our individual and collective responsibilities in the work of reconciliation.

Reconciliation requires ongoing learning, action, and accountability. Our work continues through outreach programming in Indigenous communities and schools across Northern Ontario, our Indigenous Access Admission Policy, guidance from our Indigenous Advisory and Indigenous Initiatives Steering Committees, and our commitment to incorporating Two-Eyed Seeing into our programs and practices.

The artwork featured here was created by Shaylene Restoule, a former staff member and multimedia artist from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory. Inspired by the Turtle Island Creation Story and the teachings of braided Sweetgrass, the design symbolizes the interconnectedness of all life on Turtle Island, honours the lives lost through the residential school system, and reflects the seven generations before us and the seven generations yet to come.

Today, we remember the children who never came home, honour Survivors, and continue our responsibility to listen, learn, and act.

We’ve updated our logo for the month in recognition of National Indigenous History Month and Pride Month—two powerful reminders of identity, resilience, and community.

The design features two feathers that honour both Indigenous cultures and Pride, symbolizing unity, science, and the path forward. It was created in collaboration with Patrick Hunter, a 2Spirit, Ojibwe artist and graphic designer from Red Lake.

We invite you to join us in celebrating the deep histories and ongoing contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities—and to walk alongside 2SLGBTQIA+ communities in support, respect, and joy.
