It is with great sadness that we announce Northern Lights School will not be moving forward, as we did not get sufficient enrolment to meet the financial and operational needs of a school this year. Thank you to all that have supported the school over the years in so many different ways. For those still looking for outdoor/nature based programming contact Tapiola Wildlings or Patrick Boileau

♥️

Last week our forest Fridays wrapped up for the semester. Sunshine and laughter filled the day. With a full heart I am forever grateful for the relationships built and adventures had. Howl on little wolf pack!

Today was lovely day for our Friday nature program kids. Plant prints and creature prints, Summer flowers, sunny skies with a fresh breeze to keep the bugs at bay, muddy cakes for all, walks through the field, and so much more. Only one more week for our program before summer break! Can you believe a whole school year has already come and gone? 🌲

Our upper grade students are immersed in their Botany block right now! The plant kingdom is presented in a way so students can truly appreciate their beauty. Scientific observation skills are awakened though hands on activities and art. 🎨

Today the grades learned colour theory, the colour wheel, and how to blend, mix, create new colours, and add fine detail with soft pastels with Amanda Talarico Artistry as their guest teacher. With 20 years of experience, it was a great opportunity for the students to learn what a little practice, patience, and trying new things can bring and accomplish in the world of art and creativity 🎨

Even though the wind was chilly and the skies were grey, the smiles were big and the hearts of our community were warm with gratitude for our May Day festival yesterday! Dancing in song around the May Pole, flower crown crafts, and spending quality time together was enjoyed by all. Thank you all for coming, and happy spring blessings to you! 🌸

The kindergarteners had an a short but super fun week! It was a short week but they sure did enjoy our time outside! The heavy rain brought awesome puddles to our outside field space and after 5 minutes of discovery, the kids couldn’t resist going in. The kids have been doing a lot of building with the wood pieces outside; see saws, towers, castles. We’ve also been enjoying playing various big group games such as What Time is it Mr Wolf and Octopus in our dandelion covered field! We had a special visit with Cleo, which most of the children thoroughly enjoyed. At the forest space, the children enjoyed climbing trees and playing tag and various seek and catch games through the trees. 🌲
