On May 14, 2026 Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce held their annual Business Excellence awards where we were nominated for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion award - and we WON!

What an honor to have received this award. As an all women owned business, we understand what it means to be part of a minority. We understand what it means to be looked over, not taken as seriously, or even completely dismissed regardless of what we bring to the table. It is for those reasons, when we decided on what kind of business we want to be, diversity, equity, and inclusion became and remain a core value of ours at Nature's Nest.

Without diversity, we would not have access to a broader pool of professionals who possess skills, knowledge, and experiences obtained outside of Western culture. This allows us to attract and retain top talent - one of our most esteemed educators holds a doctorate and specializes in nature science!

Without equity, how could we identify and remove barriers (systemic, procedural, and attitudinal) that prevent marginalized or underrepresented groups from succeeding? For us, everyone is deserving, we just need to take the time to understand their needs, and meet them where they are at.

Without inclusion, how can we support the building of a more just, empathetic, and resilient community? We have cultivated an active and intentional business model that is designed to remove the barriers that have historically excluded certain groups. This has ensured that everyone has a genuine sense of belonging in our spaces that go beyond rhetoric.

We cannot grow, if we do not open our minds to new opportunities, new experiences, and embrace the limitless knowledge of those who are different than us. Whether we are different by culture, socioeconomic status, creed, or religion - everyone has a seat at our table.

Happy Earth Day 🌎

Without our Earth, we would not have life. We must protect it every way we can, in all the ways that are achievable for us.

Keep your lights to a minimum, turning off lights that are not needed. Walk your block or neighborhood and collect rubbish (safely). Cook without electricity when possible.

Let us do our best to reduce our carbon footprints so our Earth can continue to provide us life 👣

It’s not “letting everything slide” or saying yes to keep the peace… and it’s definitely not about being passive.

Gentle parenting is still leadership.
It’s boundaries with warmth. Structure with connection. Guidance that teaches instead of shames.
