KZ ‘21/‘22 year ♥️ memories

When I say there is nothing like Hide Camp 💛 the past two days have been full of learning, listening, laughter, cold hands, warm hearts, good food, incredible people and beautiful tradition. Chi miigwech to everyone who makes this day such a remarkable experience - it’s truly gotten better each year. .childforever you are inspiring and are making change and leaving imprints on the hearts of people of all ages and all walks of life, and watching my KZ students learn about, embrace and feel pride in their culture is an unwatchable experience for me as an educator and person who cares so much about them.

For the past two years Sarah has led our class in the Mind Your Food Program with connecting culture, food and education. Along the way, she has also carved a comfortable spot in each of our hearts.
Sarah - we are so happy for you as you move forward in your journey. We know that your gifts will serve so many and that you will continue to make important and life changing impacts on those you work with in your new role. We are so grateful for your friendship and mentorship. Chi miigwech - we love you!

Annual Christmas tradition in KZ continues ♥️
I always look forward to our holiday visits from KOBE, enriched by the elders who join them.
This year we had Mac and Louis join us to make miniature drum ornaments and we had a fantastic time ♥️💚 Miigwech for your time, knowledge and talent!

Can’t feel my fingers but my heart is full! Thank you so much to our brilliant friend, Sarah, from 💛 and to our buddy Murph, as well as their lovely volunteer Fran, who all spent the afternoon with us outside at Centennial.
Our Roots family made bison chilli, cheddar bannock, hot chocolate and - bonus! - cupcakes for Gabe’s birthday 🎂
We learned about winter medicines and harvesting, and shared a beautiful time together on the land ahead of the holidays. We are so, so lucky for the support of Roots, my favourite organization. We LOVE you!

🌮 MOOSE MEAT TACOS 🌮
As the students said, “it was perfect weather for taco making today”!
Chi miigwech to our fabulous friend Sarah at Roots for such an amazing and delicious afternoon 🔥 the students made up ground mooz meat, tortillas from scratch, two types of salsa, avocado crema, and a fancy pina colada beverage. The result was this incredible meal. Miigwech as well to our friend Gen who joined and assisted us on this culinary adventure 🧡 We love Roots 🫶🏼

As always, Miigwech - thank you - to Matt for being so welcoming, kind and informative. The students learned some basic self defence and did a pretty intense workout circuit!

Soooooo proud of these guys for taking it home today!! What an incredible, undefeated season.
