What a great weekend with our Orlando Lower Body crew! ❤️ We loved having a few students join us from California, and seeing returning students bring their colleagues to learn. That is a pretty big compliment, although we do wonder how much warning you gave them. 😂

A HUGE thank-you to our helpers…Kara Hastie, Jillian Candelo, Sammy Cragun, Danijela Boronka, Chuck Lubeck, Amanda Kahara, and Jackie Pearce. Your time, experience, and extra hands make these weekends better for everyone. We are so very lucky to have you! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

And our sweet friend Neil Holmes spoiled us with amazing snack boxes from The Apron Lady Farmhouse Cafe. We fully support this behaviour. 😉

Thank you to everyone who spent their weekend with us. Now go put it to work, and tell us what happens. Those morning messages are our favourite! ❤️

Why does pressing the right sore spot sometimes hurt so good?

Researchers applied the same level of painful pressure to a tender point and a nearby control point. The pain intensity was almost identical, but pressure on the tender spot felt less unpleasant, created more relief and was preferred by 67% of participants.

Because where you create nociceptive input matters.

When you precisely stimulate the spot that reproduces someone’s familiar complaint, the discomfort may feel less threatening and far more useful than the exact same amount of pain somewhere completely irrelevant.

It doesn’t necessarily feel pleasant. It just feels like the right bloody spot.

Precision beats random pressure. Every damn time.

Alberta Therapists!

Ever finish a treatment and think, “Well, that should have worked”?

You found the tight bits. Worked the sore bits. Gave it everything you had. And that shoulder still won’t move, the headache is still hanging around, and now your thumbs are pi**ed off too.

We’ve been there. It’s part of why we created RAPID.

We wanted more options for the people who weren’t getting better. And we became far more interested in what we could stimulate than what we could supposedly “release.”

RAPID Upper Body focuses on richly innervated connective tissues, precise contact, and active movement. We’re working with the nervous system, then checking what actually changes. Can they move further? Does it hurt less? Has that familiar complaint changed? Those answers help us decide what to do next.

Because digging harder is not a clinical reasoning strategy. It’s just digging harder.

If headaches, stubborn shoulders, TMJ complaints, and cranky elbows keep showing up on your table, come spend two days with us in Calgary. We’ll get your hands on the protocols, answer your questions, and help you build more options for those appointments that leave you scratching your head.

You’ll leave with an illustrated manual, lifetime access to the technique videos, and ongoing support from us. Yes, us. You’re stuck with us after the weekend too. 😉

For years, many of us were taught that when a knee hurt, the answer was friction. If it was still sore, clearly we had not rubbed it hard enough or long enough, so we went back in with even more effort.

The reasoning was that we were breaking down scar tissue and adhesions with our fingers, but that story becomes a little less convincing when you really think about what human tissue can withstand and what our thumbs can realistically accomplish.

What we may actually have been doing was repeatedly adding nociceptive input to an area that was already sensitive, then wondering why it stayed irritated.

Tissues often respond better to precise sensory input, active movement and appropriate loading than they do to being aggressively sanded into submission.

We did the best we could with what we knew, but we would still like to formally apologize to all the innocent knees. 😂

Inflammation is a natural and essential part of healing. It helps clear harmful substances, increase blood flow, support tissue repair, bring in healing cells, and clear debris as the body recovers. ❤️‍🩹

Understanding inflammation can help us better understand the body’s natural healing process.

10/4 was an interesting day. It wasn’t just the anniversary of me being open as a business.
Nick and I spent the day at the 🍎 c***r mill with the kids, and Allison hurt her bum going down a slide 😣 🛝 I stood behind her and the guys kinda helped me surround her and she j hooked her own sacrum area “where it hurt the most” and she was able to continue walking around and enjoying her day. I treated her first when we got back to the house.
When we got home Nick’s back hurt, so I treated that, too.
Then I started to get a nasty migraine. I thought maybe I’d spent too much time in the sun, but I treated everything I’d normally treat on my scalp and eyes/face and neck and it was still hanging around. Then it dawned on me— I hadn’t worked under my jaw since day 3 post op and still had some swelling.
Nick and I were outside standing by the grill and I started j hooking up under my jaw. I did the left side and once I went through thoroughly, I moved my head around and the whole left side felt great! So I treated the right side, and BOOM.
Migraine - gone. I stared in awe for a moment and he said “what are you thinking about?”

Me- “I think RAPID is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, professionally. Even in our personal lives, I feel like things would have hurt a lot more for a lot longer without knowing this information. It’s completely changed how I think when it comes to injury and pain”
Three different people, 3 completely different pain symptoms. And I wound up treating all of it on the anniversary of the business I’ve grown so much in 💚
I’m so blessed to have something so wonderful I can use to get us back on track after life hits. I think about it almost daily, how much I enjoy going into the office every day and learning everything RAPID has to offer. It’s like an appetite that’s never satisfied. More often than not, that far-away stare that hits at home at times is 100% me sitting and rethinking a treatment when I get a complex case. It’s even in my dreams 😂 yeah, I dreamt of RAPID. This must be what it’s like to have found your purpose and be living out your dreams 🥹🫶🏻 🌱

When the nervous system does not feel safe, muscles stop behaving like movers and start behaving like bodyguards.

They may brace, guard, tighten, fatigue faster and become more sensitive to movement or pressure. That does not necessarily mean they are damaged, shortened or stuck. They may simply be following orders to protect.
