An old aircraft has landed with a new mission! ✈️

After years of serving with MAF in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Haiti, this Cessna 206 has arrived at Prairie Aviation Training Centre (PATC) in Three Hills, Alberta.

MAF Canada purchased the aircraft from MAF US so it can continue serving—this time by helping prepare future mission pilots. Once the import process and Canadian registration are complete, it will be used for advanced aircraft training, mountain flying, and cross-country flights.

The aircraft that once carried help and hope to remote communities will now equip pilots to do the same. Welcome to PATC, C-FGWD!

“Chair flying” helps aviation students rehearse checklists, procedures, and cockpit controls before ever leaving the ground. These life-sized Cessna 172 cockpit posters give our PATC students an effective, low-cost way to prepare—helping them make the most of every valuable flight lesson.

Big progress is being made on the PATC expansion! 🏗️

Prairie Aviation Training Centre (PATC) in Three Hills, Alberta, is expanding to be able to train more students, and the build is well underway. With this expansion, we will be able to train twice as many students as before, opening up more opportunities for missionary pilots to join in the work that God is doing across the world.

We are thrilled to announce that the Prairie Aviation Training Centre (PATC) expansion project has officially started!

This expansion will feature a brand-new hangar, along with a new classroom and office building.

We are so grateful to Prairie College and Mission Aviation Fellowship Canada for working together to make this possible. Stay tuned for more updates as we grow!

Sometimes the lesson plan doesn’t go as planned… and that’s where the fun begins ✈️

A PATC student recently had to rethink a cross-country flight due to changing weather. Instead of sticking to the original route, he improvised—and ended up drawing a kite on Radar24.

Proof that aviation is equal parts skill, creativity, and a little bit of art in the sky 🎨

After landing, he joked, “I should’ve added a tail.”
