🎃 Calling all little monsters, giggling ghosts and their favourite grown-ups! Something frightfully fun is creeping into our community, and the whole family is invited. The SSCS Monster Mash Halloween Bash is packed with silly scares, Halloween magic and hands-on fun that children and parents can enjoy together!

Enter if you dare for:

🧛 Costume fashion show
🎶 Monster Mash freeze dance
🔍 Pumpkin hunt
🎃 Poke-a-Pumpkin
👻 Bowling for ghosts
📸 The Hallo-Scream Selfie Station
🍪 Deliciously spooky snacks

This is a family event created for children and their grown-ups to enjoy together. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No drop-offs, please.

🎟️ Admission is $10 per child, and adults attend for free!

Once registered, your family can creep in whenever you wish on the day of the event. There is no need to arrive right at the beginning, but last entry is at 11:45 a.m.

Pre-registration is requested so we can summon enough supplies, activities and spooky snacks for every little monster.

Come dressed in your Halloween best and get ready for a morning of tricks, treats and boo-tiful family memories! 👻

🧊 Small Deep Freeze Needed!

Our daycare is on the lookout for a small deep freeze! 🥶

If anyone has a small deep freeze they’re no longer using and would be willing to donate to the daycare, we would greatly appreciate it!

We can arrange to pick it up if needed, so if you have one that could use a new home, please send us a message!

To a child, the world is still full of things that haven’t been explained yet.

Why does the moon follow us home?
Where do bugs go when it rains?
How does a seed know when it’s time to grow?
Why is that rock sparkly?

These questions might seem small to us, but developmentally, something pretty incredible is happening.

Young children are constantly building theories about the world around them. They observe. They experiment. They make connections. They test an idea, discover something new and adjust what they thought they knew.

This is how children learn to think.

As educators, our job isn’t always to rush in with the correct answer. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is wonder alongside them.

“What do you think?”
“What did you notice?”
“How could we find out?”

When we give children time to explore their own questions, we’re nurturing far more than curiosity. We’re helping build confidence, creativity, problem-solving skills and a belief that their ideas are worth exploring.

The world is very big when you are very small.

And there is something incredibly special about getting to watch a child slowly make sense of it.
