Greetings, Painted Squirrel friends!
-> I have to say THANK YOU first to everyone for being so patient with me. I haven't responded to messages or emails in a very very long time and I am hoping to get to that tonight.
--> My two little artists have been keeping our family quite busy in the most wonderful way, and I have just returned to work after almost 18 months of maternity leave from teaching.
I have been asked countless times if I will be offering classes again soon, and I LOVE the enthusiasm and support coming in from all directions. I hate saying no to people. However, I will not be reopening The Painted Squirrel as a studio or starting classes this year. My plan in the transition back to work and kids to daycare is to focus on getting our family into a comfortable routine and then making time to in fact do some of my own art projects (what!)
---> That being said, I will be sure to post here if anything does come up, and for now, don't forget today is the first day of ! https://inktober.com/
Take care all,
Amy

The Day 2 prompt was "The socks you'll never throw out." I tried to find cute photos of my son's feet in baby socks but found that I didn't have any, so here are my dog's socks that he'll never take off!

What's going on with The Painted Squirrel?
You may have been wondering what is going on with the studio now that I haven't been open for awhile after moving out of our space on Straume.
Well...not a whole lot! The decision to move out wasn't easy, but it made sense at the time and for the future few years. Our family is now expanding by one next spring -- a baby girl is on her way! -- so I knew that at some point I would have to take more time away from the studio.
Since September I have been working part time again in School District 82 as a teacher and I've been loving it. This has kept me busy enough with mom life and a new pregnancy (ie - frequent naps) so I took a much needed break from the entrepreneurial life.
The Ko-fi website is still up where there are a few pre-recorded painting tutorials you can follow along to. Don't sign up for monthly payments, though, because I am not adding anything new at the moment!
I am, however, thinking seriously about teaching a few paint nights in the new year. We could even have an at home Zoom option so more people can join safely. This would mean I would be looking for a space to do pop-up paint nights in, so if you have any ideas or suggestions I would love to hear from you so I can start planning!
I hope you have all been keeping well and creative during these unpredictable times.
Take care all,
Amy

I am behind in my online video tutorials, but the good news is, another one is up! I will be catching up in the coming weeks with a few more for you to dig into to make up for a few weeks of silence on the ko-fi site. If you are in Terrace, you may just need some more indoor rainy day activities by now!! Here's a link:
