Little ones can start the Sunrise program at Level 2! Our first class is January 8th :)

Hi everyone! I have two spaces available for MYC Sunrise Level 2 beginning January 8th, 2025. Classes will run for 10 lessons on Wednesdays from 4:45pm to 5:30pm. Sunrise Level 2 is a great intro to music fundamentals for children 3 to 5 years old. This session costs $190 and includes a lesson book, finger puppet and rhythm instrument. There are SO many approaches to learn an instrument. One of the most common organizations relied on in Canada is the Royal Conservatory of Music. Like many students, I have been learning through RCM for decades. Since starting to teach piano, I have also grounded into RCM offerings for theory, pedagogy and technical requirements. I encourage anyone interested to check out the RCM website for interesting articles and resources!

Hi everyone! Wow, it's been a minute. Life has been BUSY since I last posted but I am looking forward to slowing down and focusing on music again 😊🎶

I have one space available for Sunrise Level 2 beginning on September 11th from 4:45pm to 5:30pm. In level 2, Mellow the Yellow Dog helps us learn about rhythm, dynamics, and listening. Students between the ages of 3 and 5 can begin Sunrise at Level 1 or Level 2. If you're interested, shoot me a message here or by email ([email protected]).

Students at the Terrace Academy of Music worked hard over the months of September and October to accrue music money through practice and effort. Last week they were able to cash in and purchase plushies, stickers, candy, notepads and much more!

I usually post about teaching music or the Pacific Northwest Music Festival, but I also take weekly lessons and practice as much as I can. If you can't find me outside, I am likely seated at the piano. A few weeks ago, while practicing, I felt eyes on me. When I turned around I saw this crazy pooch! River was PUMPED to listen to a Haydn Sonata (who isn't?)!

Time FLIES! We are already half way done the fall 2023 MYC Sunrise session, how crazy! Watch out world -- there are some engaged, fun and talented musicians coming your way 😊😊

Every month the piano students I teach have a "Focus of the Month" to keep our learning diverse and engaging. During October, our Focus of the Month is note finding! Anyone remember Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge? I certainly can't forget it 🤪

We will conquer reading sheet music one measure at a time!
