Today, on Treaty Day in Mi’kma’ki, we recognize and honour the Peace and Friendship treaties signed between the Crown and the Mi’kmaw, Wolastoqiyik, Abenaki, Penobscot, and Peskotomuhkati Peoples (the Wabanaki Confederacy).

Treaty Day also marks the beginning of Mi'kmaw History Month. As our campus is located in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaw people, the Canadian Coast Guard Academy is proud to support opportunities that foster learning, understanding, and appreciation of Mi'kmaw culture, history, and traditions.

We encourage everyone to reflect on the ongoing contributions of the Mi'kmaq people.
