🎉Action Canada celebrates new updates to Manitoba's sex-ed curriculum, which features a focus on consent and age-appropriate introductions to puberty, menstruation, gender identity, and human rights.

The updates also address the overlap between sexual health, consent, and new technologies like artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and "sextortion." 📱

Evidence shows that age-appropriate comprehensive sex-ed sets young people up for healthier, safer relationships with their bodies, their health, and other people. In short, comprehensive sex-ed makes schools safer. 🏫💓

Recognize our shared humanity. Today, we’re fighting back tonight to kill Bill 137!

Three years ago, Premier Scott Moe and the Saskatchewan Party amplified trans panic and made youth more vulnerable. Please up and challenge Moe and Education Minister Everett Hindley that they’re on the wrong side of history.

2SLGBTQ+ folks and allies are holding rallies for the trans community in Saskatoon and Regina, starting at 1 pm. If you can make it send your MLA an email or call them on Tuesday, telling them to kill Bill 137. 💛✊🏾🏳️‍🌈💚🏳️‍⚧️

In Regina at 1pm, come out to the Saskatchewan Legislative Building on October 10th to rally and protest three years of the illegal Bill 137. 🏳️‍⚧️

You can also join the Trans Rights Rally in SASKATOON on Saturday at 1pm at City Hall.✨

It has been 3 years since the provincial government used the notwithstanding clause to trample the charter protected human rights of young people in this province and we cannot stop speaking out on that injustice. We really hope we will see you!

The year 2026 marks 30 years since the last federally run residential school in Canada closed its doors in 1996. Every year on September 30, we observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - an opportunity for all people living in Canada to pause and reflect on the history of residential “schools”, where over 150,000 First Nations, Métis and Inuit children were forcefully removed from their families and culture and subjected to unspeakable violence.

Committing to continued education is a vital step in honouring the survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities, and to remember the children who never returned home. Learn more and take further action at egale.ca/truth-and-reconciliation/

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

Janette Husak, Indigenous Peoples’ Representative, Prairie Region Council, and the Executive Membership of the Prince Albert Regional Indigenous Peoples Circle have released a joint statement highlighting: "It is a day to remind everyone that we must continue the fight to advance reconciliation, confront residential school denialism, and create space and time for collective healing."
