Our residential construction trades and training programs at GTTI Skilled Trades Institute (GTTI-STI) are offered at our Jackson’s Point campus and are designed to lead students directly into employment opportunities.

Look at the personlization on this tool box by our Carpentry student, Cody. He's been working on this accent for a few weeks to ensure it has the perfect depth and detail.

The students in our Drywall program had a chance to experiment with applying multiple paint colours and textures to their finished walls. This helped them identify the imperfections in the mud and sanding. We think it looks awesome!

Work at the Sutton Curling Club is almost complete.

Our Roofing & Carpentry students are finishing up the trim and leveling and plumbing the doors to ensure they open properly. We're so grateful to the Curling Club for giving our students this opportunity!

Fun things are happening in the Flooring classroom!
Students were learning different carpet seaming techniques, and experimenting with cross joints. Once they mastered it, they created cat scratch posts with the leftover materials.

We're always learning cool things in the Carpentry class.

Have you heard of the 3-4-5 method for squaring corners? It's a quick way to use measurements of 3', 4' and 5' to ensure you'll have a 90 degree (square) corner no matter what you're building.

We can't keep up with the projects in each classroom. Our students are progressing in leaps and bounds. Our Cabinetry students learned how to apply stains to different types of wood and how it affects the overall aesthetic.
Just beautiful.

Our Plumbing students are putting together an entire residential water system in their mock up.

As the weeks progress, they'll add more fixtures and appliances to complete it. We can't wait to see the finished system in the build.

During cross training, our Plumbing students were in the HVAC class learning to cut metal pipes and make air tight connections. They also had a chance to learn how to use the pipe threader. Learning is fun!

Week one of cross trade training is over. Our Electrical students tried their hands at doing drywall work this week.
It's a great way to learn how to cut holes and patch walls while moving electrical around during a renovation.

Our HVAC students are learning Electrical in their cross trade training.

They're learning how to install three-way switches and wire up to the electrical panels. Collaboration with other tradespeople on job sites is important to our training.

It's week one of cross training and we're playing musical classrooms! This week, our Roofing / Carpentry students were learning to grout tile and lay hardwood flooring in the flooring class.

Great job after only two days!
