For Pink Shirt Day, the children proudly wore their pink shirts and decorated their own little pink paper shirts. 💗
Through discussion and creative art, the children learned what Pink Shirt Day means — showing kindness, standing up for others, and helping create a caring, inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and valued.

What an exciting morning here at Rising Stars! We were thrilled to welcome the Sussex Fire Department, who spent time with the children reading a story about fire safety and demonstrating their firefighting gear, including how it’s put on.
The experience was both engaging and educational, helping the children learn about fire safety in a fun, hands-on way. To make the visit even more special, each child received their very own firefighter hat to take home.
Thank you to the Sussex Fire Department for your time, dedication, and for making this such a memorable learning experience for our children! 🚒👩🚒👨🚒

Snow was added to the sensory bin in the 3/4 room, inviting children to explore a familiar outdoor material in a new indoor context. Children eagerly used their hands to touch, scoop, and squeeze the snow, noticing its cold temperature and changing texture.
As the play continued, several children independently recognized that their hands felt cold and chose to put their mittens on before returning to the sensory bin. Other children observed this and followed their peers’ lead. This demonstrated growing self-awareness, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of how to care for their bodies during play. Children also compared how the snow felt with bare hands versus with mittens, noticing differences in temperature, comfort, and texture.
Educators supported the experience by acknowledging children’s choices, naming sensations, and encouraging children to listen to their bodies. This child-led sensory exploration allowed children to build confidence in making decisions while engaging in meaningful, hands-on learning.
This learning experience aligns with the New Brunswick Curriculum Framework for Early Learning and Child Care by supporting children’s holistic development. Well-Being was demonstrated as children recognized physical discomfort and independently chose to wear mittens to care for themselves.
Play and Playfulness was evident through open-ended, exploratory sensory play. Communication and Literacies were supported as children expressed needs, shared observations, and developed vocabulary related to temperature and texture.
Diversity and Social Responsibility emerged as children observed peers, respected individual comfort levels, and participated responsibly within the shared learning environment.

✨ A Proud Day at Rising Stars Day Care – Sussex ✨
Today meant a lot to us. Our Quality Assurance Monitor visited our center and shared such positive feedback about the environment and our team.
She noted how clean, organized, and welcoming the classrooms looked, and how the new materials have made the spaces more engaging for our children. Most importantly, she recognized the happiness and positivity of our educators. ❤️
We chose to work harder, improve quietly, and focus on our children. Today’s feedback reflects that effort.

Dear Parents and Families,
We're so excited to share some wonderful news with you! Even though this past weekend brought some of the coldest temperatures of the year, our dedicated team bundled up and worked tirelessly to begin refreshing our daycare space for your precious little ones.
Despite the freezing conditions, our hearts were warmed by the thought of creating an even brighter, more welcoming environment where your children can learn, play, and grow. We know how much they deserve a colorful, joyful space that feels like a second home, and that's exactly what keeps us going, even on the coldest days!
The updates we started over the weekend are just the beginning. In the coming weeks, we'll continue working hard to make our daycare even more inviting, safe, and fun for every child who walks through our doors.
We're deeply grateful for your patience and trust as we make these improvements. Your children mean the world to us, and we're committed to giving them nothing less than the very best.
We can't wait to share our progress with you and see the joy on your little ones' faces when they experience their refreshed space!
With warm hearts (even in cold weather!),

Check out what the 2/3 room has been exploring!
The children in the 2/3 room were invited to participate in a dinosaur dig, where toy dinosaurs were frozen in ice with food coloring and lots of laughter ensued!
This hands-on, play-based experience supports the development of physical, emotional, and sensory skills. Children explored the cold, wet, and icy textures, strengthening their fine motor skills as they used tools to free the dinosaurs.
The activity was designed to be inclusive, allowing each child to observe, touch, and problem-solve. It encouraged curiosity, experimentation, and critical thinking, as children predicted, tested, and observed how the ice melted and the dinosaurs were revealed.
Through this playful investigation, children also practiced communication, describing their actions, asking questions, and sharing discoveries with peers, fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration.
This dinosaur dig aligns with the NB Curriculum goals by promoting engagement, well-being, belonging, and communication, all within a fun and inclusive play-based learning environment.
I cant wait to see what they explore next! 🦖
