Nightingale Music Studio

Nightingale Music Studio Offering private and group music lessons in the Clayton Heights area of Surrey, BC. Dionne Rachelle Sellinger has been studying music since the age of 5.

She began singing at her mothers side and never really stopped. Originally from southern Saskatchewan, Dionne travelled to the U.S. and received an Arts Diploma in Professional Music from S.W.C.C. Here she studied with the vocal jazz legend Phil Matson. This degree included studies in both jazz/classical harmony, jazz/classical piano, and jazz/classical voice, where she excelled, earning her a trip to Carnegie Hall. Realizing she had more to learn and a flare for the dramatics, Dionne continued to pursue her degree at the University of British Columbia. Here she received both her B. Mus., and M. Mus., majoring in Opera and performed many leading roles with the U.B.C. Opera Ensemble under the direction of Nancy Hermiston. After graduation she became a member of the Calgary Opera Y.A.P. and has been back on several occasions to sing in Calgary Opera productions. Dionne is also a current member of the Vancouver Opera Chorus whom she has sang with since 2008. Aside from performing, her teaching experience began in college, where she did summer workshops and gave private lessons, and continued to teach while pursuing her vocal career. In 2012 Dionne became a mom, and staying close to home to raise her two daughters was the number one priority. Spending time with her girls and sharing her love of music with them, has led back to her joy of teaching. She is looking forward to bringing music to her community and sharing her passion with her students.
