Do you want to gain practical experience while earning credits towards a degree? Governments, businesses and the public are beginning to recognize that the limits of our ecosystems have been reached, and they are looking for new ways of doing things. Policy is an important vehicle for change. But all change, no matter how small, brings burdens as well as benefits, and good policy addresses the question of how to distribute these. Policy identifies who is responsible for change and how change will happen. Policy can be used to promote local community goals like increasing the number of community gardens, and encourage "green building" practices. Policy determines whether an office uses recycled paper. Policy determines whether our electricity comes from hydro, wind, nuclear, or coal. Policy can even affect the way we feel about the things we do. Policy is powerful.
