Heather Douglas Cross facilitating the "Derek Doubleday Aboretum" field trip on Wednesday, May 13th.
"It was an absolute pleasure today to facilitate a TALK Third Age Learning at Kwantlen GUIDED TOUR of the "Derek Doubleday Arboretum" in Langley, presented by Langley Environmental Partners Society, LEPS.
Two extremely knowledgeable guides from LEPS walked 30 of us throughout the Arboretum, explaining the diverse areas of plantings, gardens and Memorials.
Many locals were not even aware that such treasures existed.
We learned about sustainability in gardening, horticulture, food security, environmental practices i:e composting and so much more.
We saw Monuments and War Memorials, community gardens, educational and teaching areas and more!
Looking forward to visiting the public park and Arboretum, once the flowers 💐 are all in full bloom, in the summer.
The Arboretum is a 30 acre public park.
BONUS: we walked about 6200 steps.🚶🏽♀️ 🚶♂️ Then we were treated to a Light Lunch provided by LEPS."

Their study involves participating in a multi-arts workshop for older adults (60+) to explore internal and external resources for coping with heat and a dramatic production aimed at creating awareness about extreme heat, climate anxiety, and heat stress.
