Itβs time for this yearβs SFU Engineering Competition (EC), happening on Saturday, November 16th, 2024! This exciting event serves as a qualifier for the Western Engineering Competition (WEC), which will be hosted by the University of Saskatchewan from January 24th-27th, 2025.
Whether you're passionate about design, programming, consulting, or re-engineering, thereβs a category for you. Compete individually or with a team for a chance to represent SFU at WEC!
Competition Categories:
Junior Design (Teams of 2 to 4)
Focus on prototype functionality to solve real-world problems, especially suited for first- and second-year students.
Relevant Subdomains: Mechanical Design, Testing, Prototyping, Materials
Senior Design (Teams of 2 to 4)
Design and build complex prototypes with a focus on both functionality and theory.
Relevant Subdomains: Electronics, Sensors, Motors, Testing
Programming (Teams of 1 to 4)
Implement creative, efficient code to solve engineering challenges.
Relevant Subdomains: Networking, Full Stack Development
Re-Engineering (Teams of 1 to 2)
Improve or adapt existing technology for new applications.
Relevant Subdomains: Entrepreneurship, Problem Solving
Consulting Engineering (Teams of 1 to 4)
Develop solutions to large-scale engineering problems and present to judges.
Relevant Subdomains: Innovation, Root Cause Analysis

Registration Deadline: November 8th, 2024, at 11:59 PM
Participation Rules:
Open to SFU students within ESSS, MSESS, or SEESS.
No mixed teams between ESSS and MSESS/SEESS members.
MSESS and SEESS can collaborate on teams.
