Please READ and SHARE! The Ministry of Child Care and Education is boasting over all the new childcare spaces that will be available in the upcoming years. However, they have not considered the impact this has on NEW childcare centers. It is not possible to open quality centers with the new benchmarks they have implemented. Our government needs to reevaluate what they are doing to childcare providers and have made it immensely difficult to open a new center. Our hope is to spread the word as we know there are others that are facing these challenges.

From a young age it is important for children to gain a sense of belonging to the communities they are part of. Within the Kensington House citizenship curriculum, students learn about their immediate communities (family, school, culture, local area) and larger communities such as our city, country and globe.

At Kensington House we view our outdoor space as an extension of the classroom. Research confirms that outdoor play and exploration supports healthy physical and mental development in the early years. Throughout the day, students are given ample time outdoors to be physically active, imaginative and social!

Math, science, technology and design & engineering all fall under the umbrella of Problem Solving + Innovation. Our educators support the development of problem solving in all situations (not only in context of mathematics!) so that children become confident in applying creative, analytical and critical-thinking skills.

Sensory play activities naturally encourage children to use different processes as they play, create, investigate and explore the world around them. Participation in sensory activities has shown to have many educational and cognitive benefits for young learners. Different sensory stimuli help the brain create stronger connections as children learn how to process and respond to information. At Kensington House, our educators plan and prepare fun and engaging sensory play activities for children to access daily.
