The last two weeks have indeed been very tumultuous, with an unprecedented amount of stress for everyone.
Today, we were extremely excited to welcome our little learners back and were even more excited to note the air index low enough to enjoy the out doors. š„°

Up-date:
We took some professional advice today, and are waiting to get our furnace filters tested, which were installed a few days prior to the fire.
We have managed to secure and will be collecting two industrial air-scrubbers tomorrow morning.
On Wednesday, cleaning of the centre will commence.
Stay safe everyone.

More of us are going home!!!!!.....
Thank you Penticton, for being our Beacon of light, when we saw only darkness.
Thank you Penticton Community and everyone in between for welcoming the Summerland Community, in our darkess hours and moments of need.
Thank to the fire fighters š„ who are still actively fighting the fire; Thank you, thank you, thank you.
My family were amongst those lucky enough to go home this afternoon; whilst some of our teachers are still evacuated.
We took a look at the school this evening to see it's condition; fortunately there is no physical damage; however, there is an overwhelming smell of smoke in the building, as well as alot of ash that requires to be cleaned up.
We have changed all air filters this evening and will be putting in air purifiers on Monday or Tuesday (as soon as we can get them).
We will keep you updated and will re-open, as soon as we are able to offer a safe environment for our children.
Stay strong Summerland šŖ

Good afternoon Learning Cove Families,
We hope that you are all keeping safe in this difficult situation in which we have found ourselves.
Now that we are hearing about a phased entry back to Summerland with Trout Creek commencing today, we anticipate regaining access to the building over the next few days.
We will need to complete a damage assessment and a deep clean to ensure a safe space for our children and teachers.
Our teachers all live in various parts of Summerland and may not all be able to return at the same time. Which may initially limit spaces.
We will also be replacing all the air-filters and putting air-purifiers in each room.
As of writing this message we are still evacuated in Lower Town.
Rest assured that you will be the first to know, once we are ready to re-open and welcome you all back š.

Didn't write this, but so on point.......
Back to school reminder for parents: You are not going back to school. Your kids are. š
You donāt have homework. You donāt need to remember which folder is due tomorrow. You donāt have a science project that suddenly became an emergency at 9 p.m. And if your kid forgets their lunch? Thatās okay. They might actually remember it tomorrow. š
And when they come home saying, āMy teacher is so unfair!ā⦠take a breath before grabbing your phone to call the school. Thereās a pretty good chance your child may have left out a few important details. Our job isnāt to make sure our kids never struggle, forget anything, get a bad grade, feel embarrassed or face consequences. Our job is to teach them how to handle those things. Let them forget. Let them try. Let them make mistakes. Let them solve problems.
Because if we constantly rescue them from every little inconvenience, weāre not making life easier instead we are taking away opportunities for them to learn how to handle life.
So hereās to a new school year!
Parents, take a step back. Kids, step up.

There are so many kids activities, thereās coffee and food, thereās a place to chill. There are supplies and kids toys to take.
The volunteers are awesome!
It was comforting. And so nice to see other Summerlanders. Weāre all in the same boat.
