Wandering Willows is your toddler’s Learning Journey within Ready Set Grow. Toddlers are naturally energetic, curious, and constantly on the move—wandering through their world as they touch, try, explore, and discover.

We channel that natural curiosity and energy into purposeful learning experiences that help toddlers become confident, curious, and increasingly independent. Exploring Evergreens is our Infant Learning Journey at Fueling Brains, where babies learn through sensory play, movement, music, social connection, and nurturing relationships. Each day is thoughtfully designed around your baby’s individual rhythms and needs while giving them new and exciting ways to discover the world around them. This week we hosted our first Parent Information Night of the academic year, and we are so grateful to the families who joined to learn about our unique curriculum programming.

As an ever-growing organization with the goal of providing our children with the very best in early childhood development, Fueling Brains Academy is constantly adapting our curriculum to incorporate the latest in brain-based research. As a result, we are excited to have begun implementing the following new programs:

A calming corner is more than a cozy spot. It is a small space that supports big feelings. It is a purposeful environment designed to help young children recognize their emotions, feel safe, and gradually develop the skills needed to regulate themselves.

Every classroom at Fueling Brains Academy has a calming corner. If their surroundings become overwhelming, or they are working through their emotions, these dedicated areas provide children with access to a calm, predictable space can help reduce stimulation and provide an opportunity to pause and reconnect with their body.

You can easily recreate a calming corner in your own home. Swipe for some easy tips on how to set up a tranquil space for your child to take a quiet moment to gather their thoughts and feelings.

The goal is not to expect toddlers and preschoolers to calm themselves perfectly. It is to give them a supportive environment where emotional regulation can be practiced, modelled, and developed over time.

Meet Ms. Louise 🌹

Early in her life, Ms. Louise discovered that she was a natural when it came to working with children. She began her pre-emptive “childcare” career as the resident babysitter for her neighbourhood block, and a popular one at that, with her fun and outgoing personality.

Ms. Louise entered the adult workforce on the path to becoming a paramedic, and just as she completed her Emergency Medical Responder course, the opportunity for her to work with children arose as a Movement Assistant Teacher at FBA McKnight. Within eight months in that role, Louise moved on to take the Lead Movement Teacher role at the West 85th campus, where she led the classroom for just over five years.

Since then, Ms. Louise has welcomed a mighty little learner of her own, and upon her return to the West 85th campus, stepped into a leadership position as the Infant/Junior Preschool Centre Director.

Those who know Ms. Louise will know her for her vibrant character and can-do attitude. We couldn’t have asked for a better educator to guide our youngest families on their path of early learning, and we are so grateful for her!

Wondering what the first week at Fueling Brains Academy was like? Let our new students show you!

First hellos grew into friendships. Nervous expressions blossomed into big smiles. Unfamiliar spaces transformed into a world filled with exciting new ways to learn.

And this is only the beginning of an amazing learning journey for them. We can’t wait to see what’s ahead!
